No I read the whole thing.
I, specifically, was talking about mothers that have children addicted to drugs.
And in my previous post I stated, along with imprisonment, neutering would be a good supplement. I dont want someone that has a history of violence creating children in this world. I agree with your views on prison. But people get paroled, sex offenders, murderers, abusers. I dont want any of these people reproducing. I know that wont stop the re-offense rate but that doesnt mean a child has to be born with parents like this.

One of the reasons most of these people turned out the way they did is because of childhood abuse. So since they cant stop the cycle themselves lets stop it for them.

The mountain of laws you would need to implement such a policy would wither on the vine when pressed hard enough due to the ethical issues such a thing would present, anyway. You're basically advocating enforced sterilization which has always fallen to the wayside when human rights laws come into play.

I realize that and I know its an extreme view (Especially coming froma liberal ), but so is the death penalty.

Im just more interested in protecting the rights and lives of the children rather than protecting the rights of the parents who abuse, murder and rape those children.

Who says there were every any warning signs that he would do something like this? Community intervention is a dangerous thing, anyway, because the world is full of busy-body a-holes who get off on interferring in other people's personal affairs, particularly where kids are involved. The one person who had a responsibility to know if this guy would do something like this was his wife. If he was abusive to the child, taking his anger out on her prior to this incident, and she was aware of it then that kid's death is as much her fault as it is her husband's. Some people just snap with no warning, though. A Playstation may have been the catalyst, but who knows what else was going on with this guy that pushed his stress levels to unmanageable levels like that. I'm not saying he's justified in any way shape or form, but do you really want all your friends and neighbors spying on every little thing you do with your kids and then holding interventions when they think you are doing something wrong? And trust me, someone will decide you're parenting all wrong and that you need to be corrected.

I took a lot of that into consideration. I don't mean in some extreme commune type deal or neighborhood watch. Although folks should be on top of child abuse the same way they are with animal abuse and calling the Humane Society. (I also have some thoughts on foster care/orphanages ,but that's a whole other thread )I've worked with mentally ill people for years.I never knew when I was going to get swung or spit at. Things that trigger their actions weren't always clear.
No one is born knowing how to raise a child. If the community(church,schools,libraries,hospitals,etc) offered classes to educate parents,depending on locale whould be the deciding factor as to how they whould get people to attend. I know there are services but so many people aren't aware and that needs to be remedied.
Also I feel it would be nice if family/friends offer to assist/aide parents that may need a break. Take the kid(s) off their hands and/or suggest the parents take some time for themselves. Parents sometimes forget that. Just my feelings.
I know some of my girlfriends don't go out for months unless I set up a girls night out.

Edit: I also feel it makes for a well rounded child that has many role models involved in their life.
