I have no idea...but my one big question about him: is he really a fan of spider man? Or anyything new info about him.

Any thought?

Webb said he that he's a fan of Ultimate Spider-Man comics prior to being chosen as a director for the reboot.

He directed 500 days of summer...which was a pretty awesome and well directed film.
Does he need to be a big Spidey fan to make a great Spider-Man movie?
You can become passionate about something pretty quickly by focusing on your job and reading the source material...Which I have faith that Webb is doing

^^ CalebYourMaster : Mhm I agree with you, for sure. I am just kinda worried..like what if he makes the other "Spiderman 3 style" for next movie. Thats what fans afraid of that tho, I think...

sweetre15: Yeah I know that, but is there anything more info than that?

I had heard that they were going with a darker approach more like the dark knight a while back...so i think they will try to avoid going the horrific sm3 route

What does knowing anything about him have to do with anything? Either this guy is going to deliver or he's not, there's no way of really telling beforehand.

500 Days of Summer is all I need to know about him.

What a clever and heartfelt movie.

It's one movie. Hardly an indicator of the quality of future films. Either he will deliver or he won't. People getting excited that Marc Webb, director of one movie, is helming a billion dollar franchise with a huge budget is odd to me. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Well then I hope that he will deliver us an amazing movie. if not....he will be so dead

Really there's no telling how he'll treat Spider-man but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt since 500 Days of Summer is like a Spider-man movie without the fighting scenes.

He seems to have a grasp on the gritty elements of a story (hopefully whoever reads this also reads the Merriam-Webster definition of "gritty" before exploding at me and making a TDK reference). Particularly in his portrayal of a realistic love story in "(500) Days of Summer." And considering his experience in music video-making, he's no stranger to cinematography and what goes into creating his vision.

If the angle between Peter and Gwen doesn't work in the reboot, I'd be shocked. Everything else, I can just cross fingers to.

This.

I think he'll get the trials and tribulations of Peter down really well.

As for action, no-one can be sure as we haven't seen him direct any of the action scenes but, I'm sure he'll be able to deliver.

after watching 500 days of summer we know he knows characterization.

does he know action? time will tell. if he doesn't he can surround himself with people that do.

What do we know?

He directed 500 Days of Summer and he sure as hell can cast a movie better than Raimi :oldrazz:

I'd wait till you see his cast in their roles before saying that.

Go back two years in the Wolverine forum and this is exactly the same thing. Not saying that the reboot will be as bad as Wolverine, Dear God I hope it's way better than Wolverine, but people thinking Gavin was the best thing ever and the cast like Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool was the best thing ever really came back to bite them in the butt. Don't set your expectations too high or you will over analyze the movie or you will come out severely disappointed if it doesn't live up to them.

Well, at least we know the guy can handle drama and characterizations realistically and with a level of maturity that isn't cringe-inducing.

In response to the OP, Nolan isn't a die hard batfanatic and nowhere near as passionate about batman the way Raimi was broadcasting his claims on being a die hard spidey fan and well, the respective results are there for everyone to see.

Um, the casting and the behind the scenes talent of wolverine is vastly different to this spidey movie.

Ryan Reynolds is a good actor but are you seriously going to name drop him when we have actors like Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field and heck, Garfield himself?? Please.

Ryan Reynolds is Deadpool. He is the Robert Downey Jr. of Iron Man. Perfect casting. It had everyone floored. Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, and Danny Huston are all excellent actors as well.

While Martin and Sally are great veteran actors, Rhys Ifans...really? And are you going to compare Andrew Garfield to Hugh Jackman?

Both movies had a pretty solid cast and Wolverine was terrible. Just because a movie has a solid cast doesn't mean it is destined for greatness. Now if Marc Webb had already proved himself and this was the second Spidey movie then I would be floored with some of you but I have gotten my hopes up one too many times to be let down. Just don't set the bar too high as there is more room to go under it than over it.

My bar is always set high for the Spider-Man films, I don't know how to set it to low, it's freakin' Spider-Man. Should the director not deliver, I shall dismantle him. Jump down his throat with a knife and cut my way out of his belly.

PS

Why people like Ray Reynolds as an actors boggles my mind. I even think he's horrible at comedy. Green Lantern looks of crap! There's something about his mug that I can't take seriously, even when he's being serious. The word Goofball comes to mind every time I see him.

I love RR, both as a comic and as a dramatic actor.
