In a twinned move, Warner Bros. also announced that it is taking Six Billion Dollar Man off its release calendar for now. The pic had been set to open on the date now occupied by WW84.

Isn't Wahlberg too old for this? This film has been in development hell for decades. Wahlberg is nearly 48 and may be close to 50 by the time this is out.

I think they should go for someone younger who can continue a franchise. If they get someone who is nearly 50, then how old is Jaime Sommers going to be if they ever have her?

They should get someone in his mid thirties. Which actors are there in that age range who would seem like Steve Austin?

They want him for the recognition of being mark Wahlberg in a summer tentpole spectacle. It's not even about the subject matter.

Expecting the launch of a franchise to be predicated on the needs of a sequel or spin off character is the formula for a bad film. Just make a good movie. Wahlberg is a talent and this is a good fit for him.

Knight being added to the mix just made this a must see though for me.

Agreed on him being too old. Plus he just sucks in general. They can't seem to find the right guy for this part; I remember at one point a loooooooong time ago they were considering a comedy version starring Chris Rock.

They should go with an unknown, IMO. Put some bigger names in supporting roles and as the main bad guy.
