What do you think of that? Pixar and Lucasfilm also banned smoking.

Silly, but whatever you like. It doesn't really impact the quality of the films.

Long as they're still cranking out quality films, that's fine with me.

It would be a problem if they had the rights to a character like Wolverine, but I can't think of any current MCU character who is diminished by this rule.

No big deal. Its a good thing Constantine and Hellboy are not Marvel characters huh.

Disney is behind this not Marvel.

While they're at it, why not ban anything that's not PC from their films as well. Good grief. Here's a link to 1 random report on this I googled up: http://www.inquisitr.com/1922257/disney-bans-pg-13-smoking-including-any-marvel-films-it-produces/

Seems to me there's some political forces at work here. A 2012 surgeon general (whoever that is) report on children being more likely to smoke following by example. These studies have been going on forever just through different channels and variations. Some group is pushing an agenda.

Anyway, it seems to apply to only PG13 properties with the 1 exception being if it's a historical figure such as Abraham Lincoln it's ok...

EDIT: Does anyone know if smoking is banned from the Marvel comic books and TV shows? Further EDIT: Nevermind, I guess Marvel is behind the smoking ban besides just Disney. Joe Queseda banned it in all the comic books. It stands to reason it won't be on any of the TV shows too. http://www.mtv.com/news/2104691/disney-marvel-smoking-ban/

It takes away from Nick Fury and Johnny Blaze. Oh well.

At least they can still guzzle down alcohol like it was nothing like that wouldn't also have a negative effect on children/young adults.

I don't care. Doesn't take anything away from the films or characters to me.

so what? Marvel banned smoking from comics 15 years ago. don't get me wrong, I'm smoking myself so I'm definatly not against it, but those movies (and the books) are also (as in: not exclusivly, but...) aimed at a very young target audience, so I GET why they chose to ban it.

I find the banning of jokes in the DC movies (which might become a DCCU some day, we will see, I remain sceptical) more problematic and/or offending, personally

The only exception I wish they had was Agent Carter. Since it's a period piece and everybody smoked back then, I wish people smoked in that show. Otherwise, I don't see the big deal.

Doesn't this have more to do with movie and tv ratings than anything else?

Why are people saying DC banned jokes?
I thought that was a silly rumor.

And wasnt that proven wrong in the BvS trailer?

Just saw X-men DOFP again today and Logan is smoking in his very first scene lol. Looks like Fox did not get the memo about the ban.

Fox should think of the children!!!

Have not seen Raimi Spiderman films in a while, but did Jameson smoke in them and will he smoke in the upcoming reboot?

no he did not

Was there ever any smoking in their films in the first place?

Why is the "DC banned jokes" rumor still a thing? Have people not seen the new BvS trailer?

I'd love for a Captain America film reel of Cap lighting up some Lucky Strikes.

Cap: "Look, I needed the money."

I can't remember the last time I got any enjoyment out of watching someone smoke a cigarette or cigar in a film. And smokers and their disgusting second hand smoke tend to annoy the hell out of me anyway so good riddance.

This really seems like a nonissue when Tony Stark's greatest comic arc involved alcoholism.
