MARVEL has been "getting it right" from day one. I have always said that since Blade got the ball rolling, they haven't done a bad movie yet. I have found something to enjoy in each of their films and haven't once come away feeling disappointed. It is my opinion that those who seem to continually bash every single comics based film that comes out (and I have met many) have no right to call themselves a fan of anything comic related. Generally (CINO being an obvious exception, although I kind of liked it) if you enjoy characters in a comic book, you'll enjoy the movie. If you don't like the movie then you obviously don't enjoy the characters that much so you should leave the discussions to people who actually are fans. Speak your peace, by all means, but be respectful enough to the rest of us to keep your comments to a minimum and not keep beating a very dead horse.

thats crap, if they make a bad movie then its a bad movie and has nothing to do with the comics. just like if the comic sucks (as they do from time to time) then the comic sucks and i shouldn't like the movie?

First we get Robert Downey Jr cast as Iron Man along with Terrance Howard to co-star and now we get the news of Edward Nortan playing Bruce Banner.

This is exactly what Marvel should be doing in order to improve on their films and for the general public along with critics to take the films seriously. I hope they keep up with this trend being that Captain America Thor and Namor are up next.

I wonder how much Kevin Feige has to do with this compared to Avi Arad.

There are alot of factors that go into making the right comic book film. The right actor helps but it's the ppl behind the screen that are the ones that determine whether the film will be a successful adaptation or not. Currently only 2 directors have accomplished this, Richard Donner and Robert Rodriguez. The new hulk film will likely be the next marvel disaster. Ok they got Norton but the director and writer are hardly credible. These same misteps are repeated over and over in every film. It's a neverending cycle. This is why I've stopped paying to see these films. Marvel movies make money based on the popularity and uniqueness of their characters but they've hardly done anything right by them.

Ummm....what was wrong with Eric Bana? He didn't do that bad of a job really at all and the Hulk movie was/is actually very good and well made. Sure there are some scenes that hurt the film (poodles) but overall Ang Lee did a spectacular job creating the movie. The Hulk is not all about Hulk smash. There is more of a story there, which Ang Lee nailed, too bad people didn't get it.

Plus casting big name, talented actors is not always the way to go. Look at Christopher Reeve in Superman. He was an unknown and nailed it. Some times people will see the actor more than the character which is a risk you run when casting well known big names.

There was a lot of crap that didn't need to be in that film. The Jekyll/Hyde allegory was just fine without all the added stuff with Bruce's father, and all his experiments, and ultimately becoming the Absorbing Man, since god forbid a superhero movie not have a supervillain, even though Hulk is such a character that his origin movie shouldn't have even needed a supervillain.

Not completely change the characters and backgrounds to turn it into something entirely different, but just adapt whats in the comics and make it filmable.

1. He did make it a little deep, but it was far better than most of the Marvel movies thus far.

2. I'll give you it didn't need a villain, and yes I was disappointed that his father turned out to be the absorbing man. But the father obsession/turned torment works perfectly because Bruce was traumatized by his father as a child and it played at that aspect. Revealing why when he turns into the Hulk he rages as he does as in the comics.

3. Just because they aren't known or unknown does not mean they are not talented, just the same as being well known does not make you talented. Arnold is a perfect example. I'm just saying that always going with a big name is not the best bet, for some roles they work well. Wesly Snipes=Blade, some may have worked out well but could have been better chosen, but that's with many roles. Others are horribly casted, Kirsten Dunst=Mary Jane Parker.

There are many, many actors that are unknown that are very talented.

The Hulk is so far my favorite Marvel film, then X-2. But yes, good writers and directors are first and foremost in making a correct and properly translated comic book film.

I still feel though with Kevin Feige Marvel is headed that way.

As for Spiderman 3? Should have been rated PG. It was so god damn kiddy, made me sick. A lot of friends of mine prefer part 2, what say you?
