The show will not be 18 episodes as first announced or that of a typical broadcast network season but will be more in line with the original Netflix series model of lower episode counts.
I keep coming back to nature, when a new male takes over the pride he kills all the cubs so the females will mate with him. In this case so we have no alternative but to watch the new Daredevil. It took a disasters 2023 to have the MCU brain trust think maybe we better go back or we will be the old lion forced out by a new young lion king coming in from the wilderness.I can't help but wonder... wouldn't have been much easier and cheaper and faster to just do a fourth Daredevil season with the same creative team, but with maybe more budget? That show was better than 90% of the Disney+ crap they've been doing for years now.
They're too much up their own a** to see things clearly, I think.
Beyond anyone from the Defenders run since they linked to it on their Freeform corner of Marvel Cloak & Dagger. From Netflix, Hellcat getting released from The Raft, maybe the same way Fisk got released during the Blip.Since it’s inevitable, what cameos/guest appearances are you hoping to see in this shows?
They were thinking its not mine and I won't be bound by it.The entire handling of the situation with the Defenders characters has baffled me. From the vague "are they the same or not" wishy washy handling to having to reset the show. What was Marvel thinking? I have been baffled from day 1. When you decided to use Charlie Cox and such again, you needed to just establish they were the same. This vagueness about them maybe being similar but variants was stupid at conception. Cause sure, internet needs like us may be able to make thay distinction. But your average viewer who hasn't been on a Save Daredevil campaign for several years will just see "Oh, it's the guy from that show I liked" and that will be who they think of. They won't be thinking of variants and all this complicated gobbilty good. If it was a different Daredevil, it needed to be a new actor.
Then the show itself was making baffling choice after baffling choice. At least sanity has returned, and we got creative who worked on this stuff before behind the wheel, Foggy and Karen are back allegedly, and it seems like now we're on a better path than we were before.
I am excited about the show again. But I don't know what Feige was doing here, and in general he's made a lot of bad choices recently. If he's overwhelmed, then he needs to delegate to someone he trusts. Cause if stuff like this is happening frequently, that tells me oversight has been garbage. The other pitch should never have been greenlighted in the first place.
Could be wrong but I think that's happening now. Since the strikes have ended, it seems Brad Winderbaum has had a stronger presence on the media circuit for the shows (only 2 but still). Despite being head of TV and streaming for the last few years, it seems he was barely involved in any promotion for most of the shows. But I don't know what Feige was doing here, and in general he's made a lot of bad choices recently. I'm most likely wrong, but I can't help but getting the sense that even Feige himself might be sick of superhero stuff. Maybe his heart isn't on it as it was before. It became more of a business than a creative endeavour with too many balls in the air. There are too many characters, too many storylines, too many things to juggle; it has become too big and perhaps as a consequence, less fun to play in that sandbox. But I don't know what Feige was doing here, and in general he's made a lot of bad choices recently. That "it's not mine so I am not going to be bound to it" mentality falls on my deaf ears when you hire the guy for your own universe. If you do like Zac Efron is Daredevil, then I can respect you want to do your own thing. But when you hire the guy from the show, you are doing so cause you want to bank of that nostalgia and popularity. You're not pleasing your audience that loves cheeseburgers by making them a completely different dish that has ground beef added to it. You're also confusing your more casual audience who doesn't follow this stuff for years on end. So I don't think this line of logic had any validity whatsoever. You either wanted what the Defenders characters were selling or you didn't, and hiring them back tells me you did. So doing whatever it is they were doing at first was just plain stupid. Building off them is what should have happened day 1.They were thinking its not mine and I won't be bound by it.
Then came a bad year and in "fixing" Echo and Daredevil Born Again the selling point was the good will of Netflix's Daredevil and going into the last weekend before Echo the Netflix established canon was suddenly more important than a Feige joint and folks are wondering if he got lucky with RDJ, Whedon, Favreau and the Russo brothers.
Also not really a valid excuse. If you are not into this stuff anymore, then leave and get someone who is. Feige has been a great producer for Marvel Studios, but it should be common sense to hire people to delegate responsibility to if there is too much to manage or to leave if the passion isn't there anymore.I'm most likely wrong, but I can't help but getting the sense that even Feige himself might be sick of superhero stuff. If you're getting Robert Downey Jr or Chris Evans back for something Marvel-related, it's for a movie, not a five minute or less cameo on a Disney+ show. Especially if they're not the focus of the show. Ruffalo being in She-Hulk at least made sense with him having a supporting role, but you won't see Evans or Downey Jr have a walk-on cameo for a D+ series. Heck, we didn't even get Evans as an old Cap in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, where it would've at least made sense for him to appear. The rest of the Defenders.
Peter Parker/Spider-Man
The Winter Soldier
Also, it would be cool to see some flashbacks of Matt Murdock interacting with some Avengers either before or after the blip. Imagine him meeting Tony Stark/Steve Rogers during the blip? Maybe Steve was trying to recruit a new Avengers team? Would be a tall task getting Downy or Evans for the show, but would still be really cool to see them interact.
I dont really need a scene of Daredevil being recruited or something to the Avengers. I would love to see them interact and all, but I think that would just be weird. I never had an issue with the Defenders not being recruited cause they're all small time heroes. I don't think acrobatic guy with a stick was top priority for Stark and co. With Secret Wars coming, I think we can maybe get a more organic way to make those kind of meetings happen
Besides, those cameos would be super expensive to do and bloat the budget. Easier to just have Matt be the go to superhero lawyer guy cameo

Now that we know Matt was not blipped I look at those Ronin scenes and guess he wasn't around Hell's Kitchen for Daredevil to go after him like he did the Punisher.Right, but during the blip there was practically no one left. Vision is dead. Wanda and Sam were both dusted. Tony was practically retired. Clint was off on a killing spree. I wouldn't put it past Steve to try and look elsewhere for heroes to recruit considering the things that happened.
And I agree, those cameos would be super expensive. It's just on my wish list of things to see in the future of different heroes interacting. Especially the Netflix heroes meeting the Avengers.
Even if Matt Murdock mentions meeting someone, that would be cool to hear. Now that the Netflix shows are canon, I'd like to see them intertwine those two universes together to make them feel like one. We really only got subtle hints in the Netflix shows about the events happening in the MCU.
Spider-man is possible. When they renewed the deal in 2019, it was for 1 solo project and 1 guest appearence. The solo ended up being NWH but we still haven't gotten a guest appearence. Though it's possible the deal stipulates its a film appearence though but who knows.I think Spider-Man being the link to the "street-level" heroes would work for everyone involved, you have probably the most known Marvel character linked in an organic way to Daredevil, Punisher, and whoever else they want. They need to bring things back to more grounded territory anyway.
I doubt RDJ or Chris Evans are going to return before Secret Wars. They're gonna save that ace up their sleeve as much as possible.
