Born Again Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again General Discussion Thread

The only Avenger I’d like to see Matt have a flash back scene with would be Black Widow. They have such a rich history, it bums me out that we probably won’t see Natasha and Matt interact since they killed her off.

And how reliable are folks from this Comic Circus site? Or are they just more scoopers?

Also...do we really need references to the show? It would be nice, sure, but unless it adds to the story, it feels unnecessary. I can picture it along the lines of 'Hey, Red. Guess what I've been up to since I guest-starred on your show? Ask Karen. She knows.'

They're scoopers but they are pretty reliable for the most part. They were the first to report Werewolf by Night being in production months before anyone else, including the trades. And that was a pretty out of left field project that no one was even hinting at.

In terms of MCU cameos/appearances, I’d rather Daredevil: Born Again stay true to its predecessor and remain grounded at street-level. A Spidey cameo/appearance would be great but I don’t see a world where that happens.

And, as much as I enjoyed Scarlett Johansson as BW, I can live without her and Daredevil crossing paths in the MCU.

In my ideal world, Born Again would be a sequel series to Daredevil and his supporting cast primarily (Matt, Foggy, Karen) as well as The Defenders characters—in the very least, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones. Her powerset could definitely benefit from a Disney+ budget, especially flight. Plus, she and Cox had such great chemistry on screen together.

With Kingpin as Mayor, and Muse as a rumored villain, it makes sense that other vigilantes would be present.

Deadline confirmed the report.

Wilson Bethel, who played Benjamin Poindexter/Bullseye on Netflix’s Daredevil, is reprising his role on Disney+‘s upcoming Daredevil: Born Again, sources confirm to Deadline. I hear he is set to appear in three episodes of the series, which is now filming. A rep for Marvel declined comment.

How exciting is it that were pretty much getting a season 4!? I think at this point everyone is returning with the exception of Ayelet Zurer.

I also hope they keep the same theme for the opening title sequence. That opening theme gives me chills every time I hear it.

Awesome to get Bethel back. Definitely needed to see more of him after his great showing in season 3.

AWESOME NEWS! Give Bethel the classic Bulleseye suit and we're cooking with fire!

The entire handling of the situation with the Defenders characters has baffled me. From the vague "are they the same or not" wishy washy handling to having to reset the show. What was Marvel thinking? I have been baffled from day 1. When you decided to use Charlie Cox and such again, you needed to just establish they were the same. This vagueness about them maybe being similar but variants was stupid at conception. Cause sure, internet needs like us may be able to make thay distinction. But your average viewer who hasn't been on a Save Daredevil campaign for several years will just see "Oh, it's the guy from that show I liked" and that will be who they think of. They won't be thinking of variants and all this complicated gobbilty good. If it was a different Daredevil, it needed to be a new actor.

Then the show itself was making baffling choice after baffling choice. At least sanity has returned, and we got creative who worked on this stuff before behind the wheel, Foggy and Karen are back allegedly, and it seems like now we're on a better path than we were before.

I am excited about the show again. But I don't know what Feige was doing here, and in general he's made a lot of bad choices recently. If he's overwhelmed, then he needs to delegate to someone he trusts. Cause if stuff like this is happening frequently, that tells me oversight has been garbage. The other pitch should never have been greenlighted in the first place.

IMHO Kevin Feige has shown an extreme lack of leadership on this and failed to manage this and set the record straight on all the confusion.

From the outset, all the Netflix shows were presented as being set within the MCU and the message was "IT'S ALL CONNECTED" until they weren't and contradicted each other.

Then it became, "Oh Marvel TV stuff isn't in the MCU." And now they are again. Yet Feige is absolutely silent on all of this. Why is that? Is Feige OK? Where is he?

Good to see Bullseye returning. I enjoyed the backstory with him having a troubled childhood (and VERY good aim) and how that stayed with him into adulthood. So he tries to reinvent himself by becoming one of the good guys.

It gave him depth.

I think after Endgame Feige kind of put his feet up and felt he had nothing more left to prove. Getting the Infinity Saga past the finish line was probably his life goal and he achieved it, and spectacularly. After that he needed a break and probably just felt like he could let his foot off the gas and let other creatives run the show how they want to and....well here we are.

Nah, I believe the reports he was looking for a promotion. To be master of Disney, Marvel, and LFL. Its why he had a Star Wars movie cooking. To solidify his profile.

Oh, his ego absolutely was keeping the non-Marvel Studios out. But then, well, his star started to lose his luster. And his boss, well, his boss is facing hostile takeover of the board. Marvel Studios is panicking because their leader is facing some extreme heat.

Of all the supporting characters in the original Netflix series, I liked Elektra (S2, not Defenders) the most. I think the actress portraying her was great but unfortunately I don’t see either the character or her coming back. I also liked the original Vanessa a lot, but she is out too. The nurse was good too, but no words of her appearing in born again.

Maybe he will actually be Bullseye this time instead of that half-baked nonsense from S3.
I never cared for his performance and the characterisation bothered me. Not every villain should be sympathetic just because it worked with Fisk. Bullseye is just psychotic.

I guess it depends how big this show and their street universe end up getting. They might want a shadowy criminal organisation for the heroes to fight regularly, hopefully done a lot better this time if so. There was no reason to handle the Hand so poorly last time.

I just didn't like that he was this sociopathic FBI agent who was keeping his sociopathy hidden from his bosses at the FBI and he's like stalking the girl he likes by eating broccoli pizza and then he's working at a suicide helpline and then starts talking about weapons to the victims when the trainers are out of earshot. Just not sure what the writers were doing with all that. So Fisk was able to detect all that and manipulated him into becoming his fake Daredevil.

He had Bullseye's abilities but he never once felt like Bullseye.

Eh coming from Daniel RPK, im not putitng any stake in this.

I will go with Feige just didn't have any experience with TV and probably saw it as a secondary art form to "the cinema" that he could just do. But now knows that he needs help.

So it seems as if now Brad Winderbaum will be in the same position that the extended Whedon family was in for a year, only now the movie boss won't be eager to pull away after the many creative and viewership failures of the past couple of years has put his job and legacy in peril..

Has it been announced how many episodes this season will be? I heard it wasn't gonna be 18 anymore.
