Born Again Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again General Discussion Thread

Would have really been off-putting and disparaging to see or rather hear that they'd have been killed off screen. Even the Netflix shows made quite a few decisions with the character that I didn't really like, I hope this show manages to be a fresh start for all characters involved.

Wrong. Karen is awesome and adds a lot to the group dynamic. I’m glad they’ll both be included

Along with Karen and Foggy I would love to also see Royce Johnson back as Brett Mahoney and Rosario Dawson back as Claire Temple.

It would also be cool to get the rest of the Defenders back for cameos to maybe set up future appearances for them down the road in other projects or another series of their own.

Keep your sexism and misogyny to yourself or else you are going on a vacation.
Had nothing to do with the character’s gender but i shouldve thought about the words i chose, apologies

I'm curious what the tone of Born Again would have been like. I always assumed that they were going to take Matt in a lighter direction in the MCU but with two of Matt's closest friends dead I cant imagine the tone wouldn't have been dark and grim.

I'm assuming there would've been a time jump skipping over Matt grieving, and they would probably give him some new friends. He would be reluctant at first to accept their friendship, but then they slowly win him over. Something like that, like we've seen a million times already with "tragic heroes." Also a lot of CGI action, same as we saw him jumping around in She-Hulk...

Anyway I'm really glad they decided to start over. It sounds like most fans would hate what they were doing with the show.

Echo got me in the mood to rewatch Daredevil, so I’m on season 1 at the moment—Fisk just launched his attack against the Russians, with Vanessa standing by his side:

With all the revisions & delay, hopefully Ayelet Zurer can come back as Vanessa. No shade to Sandrine Holt (liked her enough in House of Cards season 1), but the chemistry and dynamic between Zurer & D’Onforio would be sorely missed.

And definitely bring back Rosario Dawson as Claire. And Wilson Bethel as Bullseye. Lol, I loved Elodie Yung as Elektra too.

With the Defenders stories now canon, we are running out of classic villains to introduce. I think only Mr. Fear is left—there could be an interesting story there if Larry Cranston is portrayed as Matt’s rival?

Should also scrap whoever came up with that idea and who approved it.

I immediately prefer the new people working on this

Can someone give me a TL; DR breakdown of what’s going on with the production of Born Again?
Even though it is the Marvel project I am most looking forward to and DD is my favourite Marvel character, I haven’t really been keeping up with the production.

Did they film stuff and now they’re scrapping it and starting from the beginning? I know they were filming before the strike

They filmed for around three months and then they stopped because of the strikes. In the meantime the studio heads sat down and seriously reconsidered their strategy after a series of underwhelming and underperforming projects, especially in the TV area. At some point they decided to do some creative changes, reshoot the pilot, bring some new directors, writers, have different showrunners for the show and kind of start from scratch but not entirely. It seems like they're going to use lots of the already shot footage and try to restructure it somehow, but all within a limited time frame. Production starts again soon.

I don't have much faith in this project given the current people at play at Disney. It's a mess over there. However, it probably would have been a smarter move to do Daredevil as a movie instead.

Enough general audience members were introduced to Matt Murdock through No Way Home. A DD movie franchise could have done really well. Marvel's potential rival to The Batman if done right.

I think Charlie Cox has about as much of a chance to get the stockholders to buy off as the lead of a hundreds of millions dollars investment as Grant Gustin who didn't get a shot.

I’m glad the talk of ‘is DD canon or not’ talk is officially done. They would have been silly to not keep that story canon but bring back the same actors. The material is just too good. IMO still one of the best Marvel projects. My favorite along with Winter Soldier and Civil War

One of the many Hollywood productions impacted by last year's labor strike, Daredevil: Born Again was in the middle of filming its first season when work stoppages forced principal photography to draw to a close. Now, the series is getting ready to resume filming as Vincent D'Onofrio tells us he's just days away from picking work back up on the project.

We spoke to D'Onofrio and Echo creator David Mack in support of our latest edition of Creators on Creators, with the video of that full conversation coming soon.

As excited as I am for more Daredevil, such a quick return to filming after the reports of disastrous first cut, rewrites & reshoots, I have doubts.

Cautiously optimistic. If it's not good, oh well. We'll always have the original Netflix series. If Disney+ can even reach Iron Fist or Defenders heights, then I'll be more than happy.

I still don't know why they aren't giving him a movie. Unless they don't think Daredevil can sell enough movie tickets.

Ideally after the canceled NetfliX show, the character's neXt big lead role should be in a movie as sign of an upgrade. Disney+ isn't an upgrade especially after seeing these several mcu shows, which are more misses than hits compare to the MCU movies.

I think Disney was counting on Daredevil to stop folks who had to see it as it dropped from unsubscribing from Disney+ for the 4 plus months an 18 episode run might have given

What concerns me is the lack of leadership from Kevin Feige. Where even is he in all of this? I feel like we haven't seen or heard from him in forever. Is he burned out? Is he working on any of these things? Was this all too much for him?

I almost get the sense that the separation between Marvel TV and Marvel Studios (Film) beforehand worked better for everyone in the long run.
