Born Again Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again General Discussion Thread

You know, a big part of the positive reviews is the fact that they didn't give critics all episodes to watch. Both WandaVision and Moon Knight started as something fresh and different (especially the former) and turned out to really silly and formulaic by the end (especially the latter).

I'm not sure I would call Moon Knight formulaic. Just meandering and idiotic. Also, I saw the same first four episodes of Moon Knight and thought they were terrible.

Well, the first one showed promise at least.

Yeah the first one or two started quite good but then quickly went downhill from there. Fore me it did follow some trends and cliches in terms of tone, characterisation, stakes and set-up though, that the first episodes seemed to avoid. It started kind of different and then you could definitely tell that's MCU alright.

Loki, WandaVision, and Hawkeye > All the other MarvelTV stuff

Don't forget to add Legion, which I think Loki DESPERATELY wants to be, but falls far, far short. Yes, there was some bad stuff in there as well. But, look at the amount released. The Gifted will be braver than anything X-related Feige puts out. Cloak and Dagger is a severly underrated YA show.

Meh, the Gifted wasn't that good. Generic as hell with lots of goofy Whedon-lite dialogue.

Also, the parents were boring characters and were made the leads. And they aren't even mutants.

The Gifted could be very by-the-numbers at times and I'm upset it didn't get the four seasons it was probably going for, but I did enjoy a lot of the cast- in particular Emma Dupont as Polaris. That said, Legion, especially its first season, is my favorite comic book adaptation period- whether movie or TV, and I think a lot of that had to do with Noah Hawley as showrunner.

The first season of Legion was absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately the rest didn't live up to that, but at least it was still decent.

I might be a bit simplistic, but as far as superhero TV shows go, Netflix's Daredevil was right up my alley (no pun intended).
Someone with a secret identity fighting regular crime, the perfect amount of character drama, a story constantly moving forward and action beats. I know it is the most basic premise, but it works for a reason.
I've seen Watchmen (it was really good) but I couldn't continue Legion. It was too "out there" for me.

I’m fine with them taking a step back with Daredevil; a bad fourth season won’t taint original series for me, but I’ll gladly wait another year if it means I’ll see a worthy successor.

Admittedly, outside of Andor, I’m not really confident Disney+ can deliver.

There is quite literally nothing in Loki that even remotely resembles Legion, I have absolutely zero clue how you could've gotten that impression lol Literally zero similarities between the two shows. If anything Loki wants to be Dr. Who.

I think there's a bit of overlap in design aesthetic. The TVA has a sort of era ambiguous feel that Legion had as well. But that's about it.

Dario Scardapane, whose recent credits include Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan as well as Netflix’s Marvel show The Punisher, has been tapped to act as the new showrunner for the series, which is in the midst of a creative overhaul.

Additionally, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, the co-directing team behind indie genre thrillers who are coming off of directing episodes of Loki season two, have been hired to helm the remaining episodes that will constitute the first season on Disney+

When a lion takes over the pride he kills all of the cubs so the others will mate with him. But folks did not flock to Disney+ and highly rate the other MCU shows so Plan B is now in effect.

They seem to be putting a lot of faith in Echo getting the positive reaction its trailer got. Seeing as The Marvels was blamed on the big bosses letting the director run free no excuses will be left if reviews saying not as good as Netflix is the consensus.
