Marvel Studios will bring "Runaways" to the big screen.

Brian K. Vaughan, who co-created the series with artist Adrian Alphona, is writing the adaptation, for which Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will act as producer.

"Runaways" follows a group of teenagers who find that some family secrets are bigger than others when they discover their parents are actually super-villains. Running away from their homes, the teens band together and begin a journey of discovery, both of their parents' origins and of their own inherited powers, while trying to make up for the evil done by their folks.

Awesome Runaways is one of my favourite books Marvel have but out over the last decade although it kinda sucked after Brian K. Vaughan left.

It would make a great movie anyway. Its diffrent to Marvels other movies and would add a little diversity to their film catalogue. It could be Marvels Goonies or Harry Potter.

Vaughan's writing it himself? If this is true, it already has more potential than some of the other side projects Marvel Studios' shooting for.

Cool, but again do we need to remind them to concentrate on the planned movies first?

The last time they're doing this movie announcing euphoria, the WGA strike bit quite a chunk of their butt making a lasting effect for not having any movie at all in 2009.

YES! You can't go wrong with BKV being attached to the film. Anything he touches turns to gold. Runaways is one of my favourites, and it shall be amazing.

See, this is what I'm worried about. I know Marvel's gotten a lot of credit for Iron Man, but I'd be pretty surprised if they didn't dumb this down or changed certain important aspects to make it more kiddy.

Were this made in the 80's (where Monster Squad had a 6 year old saying "chickens#!t") I wouldn't be worried, but now that Hollywood's lost its balls... Dunno.

Either way, I hope it's a hit. If anything, maybe it'll give this great series a few new readers.

I think they should market it at teens like aged 12 and up. The OC, Dawsons Creek, Gossip Girl and other teen dramas always have a gay/lesbian storyline and it seems fine.

The Monster Squad came on TV recently and they edited out all the swear words and violence. The movie made hardly any sense if you where watching it for the first time. They cut out Dracula going on the railing spike and the werewolf exploding.

A script doesn't have an expiration date. And it makes very good sense to have options in case Thor or Captain America or The Avengers prove to be problematic to bring to the screen.

It's probably also a good idea for Marvel to highlight a concept that has been created in the last 10 years and that might appeal to people that don't normally come into a comic book shop.

I feel that they're going to find some way of screwing this up royally. Either it will be too kiddy or they'll pull a "Wanted" on us and instead of super villains we'll get the kids fighting Terrorist parents or something...

well theres technically only one kid in runaways... and thats molly (who reminds me alot of the "thor girl" in Adventures in Babysitting. everyone else is 16-18 and can easily be played by 22-23 year olds (at oldest) nico since she's asian though could be played even by a 30 year old haha.

anywho.... the movie should be PG-13 not a kiddy movie, and be very much like an 80's film

the girl from little miss sunshine could be a fun molly... or the girl from silent hill

Alex always came off to me as a darker character (villain version or not), also a "more black" character.... Bleu i can't say can fill either of those roles... hes always got a friggin huge smile on his face and just doesnt have the alex vibe at all to me

id welcome Victor... but the movie i'm sure will focus on the parents and the gibbourum (or however you spell them). Victor's father is ultron, and has nothing to do with that arch, and Xavin has even less to do with that and brings in far more confusion i believe...

imo Victor could work, but most likely wont be in it. Carolina should also imo only be hinted at as a lesbian... or have a few akward and "iffy" moments with Nico but not exactly coming out yet...
