Marvel's Runaways coming to Hulu

And isn't it par for the course that there's a bit of a wait before a show gets a forum anyway? Think back to how long it was before the likes of, say, Legion got one.

Maybe they are waiting for an official trailer and premier date? New York Comic Con, surely.

Does Titans have either of those things? Also, I have November 21st as its official release date. That's more than we know for Punisher.

Hulu had a commercial during the Emmy's that featured a second of Runaways footage.

Its coming out in November and there's still no official trailer? Meanwhile Cloak & Dagger the show gets a very early trailer release.

It'll probably come the first week of October. There are a lot of shows starting up so putting something out right now would be buried by the stuff coming out sooner.

I assume the Cloak and Dagger release was more the way Freeform likes to do things.

One is Hulu and the other is Freeform, which might have something to do with it. I also think Cloak and Dagger got delayed. That being said, both Cloak and Dagger and Runaways had leaked trailers (I think they were TV solicits or something like that) and then the former released the trailer officially while the latter did not.

Still no forum for this series, even though surely more than a pilot has been ordered and it's coming out in a couple of months.

Meanwhile Inhumans is already dead in the water and only has 8 episodes anyway, making it more like a mini series, and yet that has a forum.

More importantly, Titans doesn't come out to 2018 and the network it's on doesn't even have a name yet and it has a forum. Inhumans comes out tomorrow and debuted in IMAX, so complaining that it has a forum is misplaced.

This should have a forum because Titans does, imo.

Calling it now, Nico will be the walkaway star I reckon

Nico was the best character in the comics, so I'm just kind of assuming she will be in the show too.

Considering she made the most appearances out of all the Runaways, I'd have to agree. Heck, she's the only Runaway that has a Marvel Legends figure. Must be the Goth look.

ABC should have passed on Inhumans and put Runaways on the network.

Does Hulu still show commercials with a subscription or is that no longer a thing?

OH look! I spot Old Lace! ;)

And Hulu still has commercials. They have two subscriptions you can get. ONE with ads and one with none (though some might have them due to streaming right contracts).

I don't want ABC touching this. Do you really think ABC is blameless for this? They'd network it up.

BTW, all the NYCC posters look spectacular.

I do think ABC is the party least to blame for Inhumans. It appears as though the Mouse foisted it on the network. But I would agree that Runaways is better off on a streaming service.

Practically everything is better off on a streaming service or a premium channel like HBO than a standard network.

I think it partly comes down Inhumans being a property that simply should not have been attempted on a TV budget. Look at Runaways. For the most part, the only real budgetary hurdle is likely Old Lace. The Inhumans' whole gimmick is they're a diverse race of superhumans who each have incredible powers. That's way less feasible to achieve on a TV dollar.

It's why, despite people's insistence that Netflix should be making everything, we're probably not gonna see any real big concept Marvel properties over there anytime soon.

The Runaways are street level heroes. Yeah, they have a sorceress, a robot, a dinosaur, and a couple of aliens and they fight extra-dimensional demon/god things. But the focus is still primarily small scale like the Netflix characters.

The Inhumans are on the galactic level, more along the line of something like the Guardians of the Galaxy or Captain Marvel. That's above even the global level of something like Agents of Shield. That makes it a much harder fit on a television budget, Star Trek excepted.
