Marvel Studios to Adapt Runaways

I just hope that they stick to the comic origins I.E. keep the parents, Evil Gangsters, Evil Mutants, Evil Wizards, and, Evil Aliens, and Evil Time Travelers.
Definately. Changing that would be a huge mistake. Having BKV pretty much ensures that it wont happen.

On another note, Even though Wonder Woman didn't work out for Joss Whedon I think he'd be perfect to adapt this into a movie. :hehe:

For directing yes, but leave the writing to Vaughan.

That's blatant self-promotion. Not good. Implicit, seamless integration is better so people are focused on the Runaways story itself without having nagging thoughts on the Marvel Universe.

You know guys, I'm still not sold on the Runaways. Yeah, they might tell a very good Heroes-like story with the author himself writing the script but by placing itself in the lineup it will break the schedule for the other high profiled character projects like Daredevil 2, Dr. Strange, Namor, Cage, Iron Fist or Black Panther. In Economics 101 it's called opportunity cost.

Who the **** cares about Namor? Black Panther is a joke. Iron Fist could be cool and so could Dr. Strange but Runaways is the best thing to come out of Marvel in years and BKV is a screenwriter first and foremost so I'm sure his script will be amazing.

I bet you Shia Leboof gets a role in this movie! Also am I the only who would laugh if the kids from superbad all somehow got in this movie

Let's not get carried away with our excitement about Runaways... no need to start talking gibberish. :word:

I think the way to go would be to cast unknown or lesser known young actors and cast more famous established actors as the parents.

This is SOOOO how it should be. For added kudos, put genre-saavy actors in the roles of genre-biased parents, ie Brent Spiner, a sci-fi guy, as Dr. Stein.

Personally, I'm tired of mid-late 20s people playing teens... I don't believe it, by and large, and usually have to suspend my disbelief pretty heavily. Except for that Nick D'Agostino (sp?) guy... he looks 12. Everyone else, Harry Potter kids included, look like grown men to me.

They had better not cast 20 somethings as the kids. That would just ruin it.

i don't think theres anything wrong with a young 20 something playing the oldest kids (chase, nico, gert) as long as they look the part

In theory, sure, but in my experience, uncommited casting leads to casting of skilled over-18 actors because for a director that takes themselves too seroiusly, working with adolescents is hell. And the chemistry between 22-year olds and 16-year olds can be a mite weird sometimes.

...and Gert was the second youngest, just so ya know. 14.

The ages go...
Chase is oldest
Alex, Nico, Karloina, Victor are all about the same
Gert
Molly

And who the hell knows how old Xavin is....

I thought that other than Chase, the rest of the oldest were all 16. Chase is still the only one to have turned 18.

Molly didnt turn twelve until after the timeskip between the climax of the third arc and the epilogue.

I actully think the Harry Potter kids look the age of their characters. Some of the actors in those CW teen shows like Smallvillle, One Tree Hill, The OC, Gossip Girl, Dawsons Creek, ect do not look the same age as their characters though.

The kids in that show skins are either the age of their characters or around the age and did a good job imo.

Skins is a fantastic show. I would be very happy if either Bryan Elsley or Jamie Brittain would direct the Runaways movie.

There are several absurd things about the CW. The Potter kids may not be that bad... I'm just not used to seeing "15 year olds" so scruffy. :)

Damn, for some reason I'd thought that Gert was second oldest. Totally forgot how young she was.

I would get Joss Whedon to direct, and BKVaughn, plus an seasoned movie scripter to write. Produced by Marvel studios.

I'd love to see Cap in the end of the film, just like the comics.

I'd honestly get someone that's directed teen-oriented flicks before, like a Catherine Hardwicke.

Jessica Stroup for Karolina
