Psylocke had telekinetic powers right? How’d she end up in her Asian body?
in the late 80s Psylocke was one of the few remaining X-Men (including Colossus, Havok, and Dazzler) in Australia, and to escape certain death they jumped through the Seige Perilous (and after being "judged" by celestial beings and given a clean slate), were scattered, and she reappeared in Hong Kong.
now here's where it gets confusing. ORIGINALLY the Mandarin (who i believe was head of the Hand at the time) found her and thought it would be great to have an assassin with precognitive powers (which she had in a limited capacity). so he hires Mojo and Spiral to strip away her old self/memories and brainwash her into his #1 killer. Mojo being the master of entertainment that he is said what sense is it to have a white girl running around kicking butt in Hong Kong. so for kicks he had Spiral reconfigure her DNA to make her asian. later Wolverine and Jubilee make there way there and run into Psylocke/Lady Mandarin and are able to break his control. it was actually a really good story.
now in '92 Fabian Nicieza wrote a story where Elizabeth Braddock(british body) returns and attacks Psylocke(asian body) claiming shes an imposter. after all is said and done it was revealed that the Hand's top assassin, Kwannon, was running around Hong Kong the night Psylocke appeared there. she sees her body, touches her, and for whatever psychic/celestical energy residue they switch bodies. now this is obviously completely contradictory to what Claremont wrote 3 years before and Nicieza knew he f'd up.
so about a year later Kwannon (going by Revanche) has been hanging around the mansion for a while and is now dying from the Legacy Virus. Spiral comes along and is like "before you die wanna know your secret?" and its rewritten that Kwannon and Mat'suo Tsurayaba (top assassin for Mandarin's competition) were lovers and forced to duel to the death, but instead of finishing the deed Kwannon jumped off a cliff (this part is hazy for me). Mat'suo couldn't let her go and after finding Psylocke's washed-up body, he goes to Spiral and has her switch their bodies in hopes to save her life. but Spiral being the love-scorned b**** that she is, made them more hybrids of the two than cleanly swapping them which caused the identity crisis. Revanche/Kwannon died shortly after.
so there's Psylocke's history. oh and for her powers, that was all Claremont. when he returned to writing X-Men in 2000 he jumped ahead 6 months and somewhere in between losed her telepathy and swapped it with Jean's telekenesis with plans to explain it later on, but got the ax before he could. she kept the TK from then on (which grew exponentially after she died and was resurrected by her crazy older brother) and recently she and her dead british body were used in a resurrection experiment that brought her back into her original body. the X-Men foiled the plot and when she returned to the asian body she kept some of the TK and her telepathy seems to be restored to some degree.
yea i really like Psylocke.
