It was the first thing I thought of. I think as long as he gets in shape like Snipes, he'll look fine.

I'm not concerned about aesthetics as much as Ali's body holding up to such a physically demanding role, especially if the film spawns a couple of sequels. When actors reach Ali's age, they usually start pacing themselves when it comes to roles like this because their bodies just don't recover like younger actors. I hope that he can be the exception.

That's still my concern as well. Snipes was around 36 when the first Blade released; Ali is already 45 and could be near 50 by the time Blade is released in 2022 or 2023. I get you don't turn down a 2-time Oscar winner, but I was really hoping for someone younger in the role.

He's 45 already? he looks young for his age.

As for his age, I'm not concerned. Hulk, Iron Man, Vision, Ant-Man, Hawkeye weren't played by 30 something actors for their 1st film. Also there's always vfx and stunt doubles.

I wonder about the budget? its crazy but in a good way that they aren't throwing Blade into TV like they did with the Punisher, Daredevil and Ghost Rider, other ips that got a movie before the mcu.

Nice I would have taken either for Blade but glad its a movie. With this and a more horror focused Dr Strange could they be gearing up for Midnight Sons?

Be interested to see the who the villain is.

Okay, so confirmation Netflix and most other TV shows (except Agent Carter and early seasons of AoS) are non canon.

Also, this better be rated R or we riot. Create Marvel Knights logo and put all R rated projects under it:



Matter of fact they should do this:

1) Release the movie as rated R in most of the world with a PG-13 cut for China (Marvel movies do 100MM+ there consistently, hard to pass that up.)
2) 2-3 months after release, do an expansion with the PG-13 cut in the west for a boost and for the family to see the movie as well, a la Deadpool 2.

Everybody wins.

Eh, I don't think that's anything that really needs explaining. Vampires literally operate in the shadows. That's already a pretty neat explanation.

This depends on how many and how powerful the vampires are. To put it simply, the kind of vampiric community portrayed in the first Blade movie? Would not plausibly fit in the MCU, because its just not subtle at all. OTOH, if outside of certain isolated strongholds ( *coughTransylvaniacough* ), there are like a double handful of active vampires in the entire world, and they keep a super low profile? That would fit fine.

My personal preferred theory would be "Vampires were almost extinct after centuries of hunting and possibly a mystic banishment by someone named Montessi. However, after the events of Dr Strange and the brief collapse of the planetary mystic barrier, surges of dark magic have lead to a resurgence of vampires ( and other monsters ). Sleeping vampires woke up, active vampires found themselves buffed, and everyone finds it easier to make new vampires than before."

Marvel may be going for a completely different from the New Line classic and will make a psychological horror that has more drama and nuance than punches and kicks. I don't think Mahershala has thrown a punch in his life. Marvel is going to play to his strengths.

I'm just saying they may go in a completely different direction. I'm not saying there won't be action (it's a Marvel movie) I'm saying the action may be different. Maybe Blade is more about weaponry than martial arts.
