Marvel's online comics

This is just a great way to do reprints for people to actually read comics. Hell even if I owned some of these real old and expensive one's I'd rather read them online than risk damaging them.

True, I always wondered who these guys are who actually took the time and risk to scan some of the old originals!

From a business point of view, this make great sense for Marvel.

They have this huge backlist of comics, decades worth, that are just sitting around not making money. They could reprint them in trades, but printing is expensive, so by putting them online they can end up making a lot of money for very little initial cost (because web hosting is dirt cheap compared to printing).

From the business point of view, I can't believe they haven't done this before. It's basically the same thing that TV studios have realized with DVDs and online distribution. They have a bunch of product that they paid millions for over time and now they have a way of making money off it after it's initial run.

And, it's basically free advertising for their trades. Well, not free. you pay for it!

I doubt I'll get it, but just because I'm not online that often. That said, if I start seeing more obscure titles like Rom or minis from 20 years ago, I might consider it. 60 bucks is like two weeks' trip to the LCBS usually.

I'd be interested, if you could actually download them onto your computer itself.

Probably because I'm too used to using GonVisor and like returning to them, but still...they should have that option.

I don't understand the hate for downloading comics, unless people overdo it. If it weren't for such sites, I wouldn't be reading what I read right now
