FOIL
(2x + 3y)(4y - 3x)
First numbers 2x times 4y
Outer numbers 2x times -3x
Inner numbers 3y times 4y
Last numbers 3y times -3x
Figure this one out, and do the next one.

-8x+12y but I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to go further to 2(-4x+6y)

Was the first outer inner last thing always the rule or just in that case because the x's were on the outside and the y's were on the inside?

40z-10x, but again I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to go to 5(8z-2x)

okay for the next half hour I'm going to be busy. I have to get my little sister to finish eating dinner, giver her her insulin, record the day's info for her doctor, review her spelling words for her test tomorrow and put her to bed, and during this eat something myself because I'm starving.
