Mattchew's Halloween Costume Thread, 2009 edition

For those of you who haven't seen my previous Halloween threads, I've posted progress shots of my previous costumes over the years. Here are some of my previous costumes....

Many years ago, I went as Mayor McCheese, of McDonald Land political fame.

In 2005, I went as Ripley in the Power Loader, from 'Aliens'.

I went as He-Man riding Battlecat.

Most recently, in 2007 I went as Predator (although I never got to finish the costume completely due to getting a kidney stone a week before the big night).

Well after taking 2008 off to do an insane amount of campaign volunteering, I am back with another Halloween costume thread.

Being older and busier, I decided to start WAY early this year.

In fact, I am actually using the cardboard form I made last fall before realizing I was way too busy to complete a costume.

Without further ado, this year I am going as Adam Maitland from 'Beetle Juice' when he and his wife make themselves all scary to haunt the Deetz family...

Here's my first update for my Adam from 'Beetle Juice' costume...

Like I said before, I actually made this form last fall and its been sitting in my closet since mid September of 2008.

It's just cardboard, hot glue, and tape...

After that, I warpped the form in paper towels to make the edges a little softer, and then did a base coat of paper mache....

Obviously, this is very early. I'm gonna make additions to get the right shape before I start with the details like the stretched skin lines, eye holes, etc.

More updates, at some point. I'd love to hear thoughts.

Thanks... I kinda realize it's random. It references 5 mins of a movie from the 80s...

Having said that, you HAVE to see 'Beetle Juice' if you either missed it or forgot its genius.

More updates on my Adam from 'Beetle Juice' mask...

This is just some shape added to it...

And a fresh coat of paper mache...

I'm getting closer to the general shape. More, in time.
