I cried a lot too. I cryed at the obvious sad part, but then by the end I was just crying through the final battle and the news clips and stuff... It's hard to explain why. I think I was just crying because it was exactly how superheroes should be seen, and it choked me up because I was so happy we finally got that.

I also cried when Joss Whedon's name came up as 'Directed by' and 'Screenplay by'. I just got this overwhelming surge of pride :)

Big Wheddon fan eh?

Fan of his tv works...or also his comic works?

I only really followed his comics works, to be honest. In my opinion, he wrote THE best x-men comics to date

The biggest :) I even have this unofficial Whedon biog I bought ages ago sat on my shelf :hehe:

Seeing his name up there on the big screen reminded me of 6 or 7 years ago, when I was in 6th form doing Film Studies and we had to pick an Auteur (a director with a really distinct style) to do a write up about.

I so so badly wanted to do Joss, but my teacher reluctantly said he couldn't allow it. Even though he definitely IS an Auteur, he's only done one film, and this is FILM studies...

Well I could do that essay now! :D

Comics wise, I enjoyed Astonishing X-men, but I adore Fray as well :) The Buffy comics I've kind of been avoiding because the series felt so finished and complete to me.

But didn't Whedon make Alien Resurrection?

The man's got a ridiculous resume that consists of stuff that's either amazing or total crap, rarely anything inbetween.

Alien Resurrection, Toy Story, Titan AE, Buffy, Angel, Firefly/Serenity, Avengers, Storm's crappy joke in the first X-Men film...

I think he only tried to "fix" the script for Alien Resurrection, and who knows how much the studio interfered with it.

What do I do when I know someone I care about has put themselves in an inescapable place and there's nothing I can do to help them out of it?

You can start by posting in the proper thread. This isn't the "Relationship Thread".

you can't do anything if they aren't trying to get the help or get out of the situation themselves

This isn't a relationship of the love kind though in the definition you're thinking of. I have feelings for him yes, but I can be nothing more than a friend because of the circumstances he's wrapped up in. I can't put myself at risk and I know he'd agree.

I understand, but in this case it's not as easy for him to get out of this situation. He's bound and chained to some "characters" that are not very wholesome, charitable people.

you know, if you stopped describing these situations like the some vague synopsis to bad romance novel, you might get some useful responses. details make all the difference man.
