MCU Marathon - Infinity War Rewatch Thread

I just want to say I feel like the scale of the craziness and intensity of Infinity War is beyond anything I've seen in film in a long time.

That being said I feel like the films compound upon one another. Watching the original Iron Man is so beautifully strange. Seeing such a terrestrial threat and watching Stark deal with such believable problems after having just seen him deal with Thanos is amazing.

Seeing all the characters at their origins is now so strange. That kid from brooklyn, that kid from queens. Just an amazing feat they've accomplished already. When their movie doesnt even have to have an ending!

THE INCREDIBLE HULK​

The CGI hasn't aged well, almost everything else is just fine. Every character feels present and important (except Lenny, he was mostly erased), no one phoned it in or anything of that lame complaints I hear about this movie.

Last year, I thought Thor Ragnarok took over as my favorite movie based on a Marvel comics property, it seems that today, this movie took back its post.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER​

This movie is highly entertaining, that doesn't mean I don't have my critiques about it.
  • From front or back, the super soldier serum gave Cap the power to direct all enemy fire coming his way to directly hit his shield
  • A few nukes in Skull's flying death machine lost somewhere in the Antarctic continent were ignored all this time after this movie.

THE AVENGERS​

Aesthetically it does look like a TV show, thankfully it did not reduce the quality of special effects. And the cinematography is not all that great.
But in the words of Bob Chipman (also known as MovieBob); it is true that is really that good.

IRON MAN 3​

It's the official start of Phase 2, but it's still an ideal conclusion for phase 1.
This is still my favorite Iron Man movie, and in the words of a good dude; "It is a great conclusion for Tony Stark's character arc"

THOR: THE DARK WORLD​

I defended Darcy in the previous movie, she's annoying here. A dull dreary movie with characters that feel useless outside of certain scenes.
The friends of Jane Foster (and her, I won't discard her for being nothing but a plot device) are not three dimensional or what, they're filler presence until the end of the movie.
And villains suck.


How I rate them as far as joy goes this turn:

Yeah, on my MCU re-watch, I found I genuinely did enjoy Darcy in the first Thor movie. It was TDW where she became insufferable to me.

This is my first time watching this movie without getting a mild headache. I don't know why I got a mild headache last two times I watched a movie I thoroughly enjoyed since day one.

Jesus Christ, even I didn't want to see another Thor film if she was gonna be involved it was that bad.

I hate The Dark World was ever made to be honest.

I still like it, less than the better first movie, but I like it enough to say it's worth keeping to watch again.
I did not notice the foreshadowing of Quicksilver's death before today, there are two moments of that.
Danny Elfman's music here recycled notes from Spider-Man movies.
There are four jokes on the "Language" bit.

ANT-MAN​

This is the only MCU movie that opens up with a scene before the Marvel Studios logo, and it's the last movie before expanding the logo stretching its time.
Cool action, fun light story, simple to swallow and enjoy, but still has hokey moments.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR​

I was wrong about Ant-Man being the only MCU film that doesn't open with Marvel Studios logo, but with a scene before it, I was also wrong about it being the last MCU movie to open with the studio's logo being pretty simple.

This is another good Cap movie with great action, but this time I thought it was my least favorite Cap movie. And while the action is great, I'm not a fan of all the destruction caused in the Bucky chase scene, or the airport battle scene. At least they're addressed and the characters deal with repercussion of things. I love the climax battle between Cap and Steve, and the opening battle in Lagos.

I appreciate that it starts like a Mission Impossible movie, and the arc of the Black Panther for this movie. I also don't mind that Wanda dropped the accent.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING​

I enjoy this more than I did before. That doesn't change the fact that Spider-Man is a cocky reckless fool who ruins things, and strangely doesn't have to deal with consequences of his action, one of the characters who are known to fall into trouble and having to deal with the severe consequences to his mistakes, deals with a light pat on the back.

And the explosive Chitauri core that can't handle radiation, what's up with those not blowing up while Thor was shocking them, or Iron Man throwing himself into the Chitauri dragon and blowing it from the inside?

And what's up with Vulture keeping up with loser Shocker for as long as he did? It's a wonder he even let him join his crew when he started an incompetent doofus.


At least I can tell Kevin Roegelle that I'm finally with him in enjoying all 6 Spider-Man movies, problems and all.

THOR: RAGNAROK​

Aside from the repetition of the rotating hanging Thor telling Surtur to wait joke being done twice in a row, I have no issues with this movie.

Thor performed a psycho crusher in the climax battle, that's why I use this for my rating of this movie.
