MCU Thor Respect Thread (Spoilers!!!)

I see this is the unofficial Captain Marvel hate thread... Jk

I used to not care for Thor but he started growing on me after AOU and of course Ragnarok. Now he's a favorite. Here's hoping that the character survives Avengers 4.

The way this scene played out in IW when Thor jumps, being propelled by his own lighting power and adding to that the freaking sound he makes when he takes off... Epic.

Hate? Not really, hehe! :D I liked the trailer, and I'm curious to see the movie! Can't say I ever cared about CM in the comics, though.

That's one of the best scenes in the whole MCU.

Not really, just didn't like the trailer.

This jump is cooler looking than the actual ground slam in my opinion.

And together they are a thing of absolute beauty.

One of my favorite Thor moments happens in AoU. Even though it's brief, it's awesome when He absolutely smash that tank (leaving the rest of it for the Hulk to smash)!

I remember Thor deflecting the hammer blow off of Caps shield to take out the tank. I dont remember the Hulk smashing it afterwards

They are talking about the start of the opening scene, before the slow motion bit with everyone in it. You see Cap riding his motorcycle through a bunch of stuff and when he comes closer to a tank Thor comes down from the sky and smashes the front so it flies up into the air. Iron Man shoots it in the air and Hulk catches it and throws it away.

I love the aspect in Thor mythos that makes him more powerful as he grows older. It's such a fascinating characteristic and one that really boosts the caracter into new heights. Couple that with the fact that asgardians are extremely long lived, living through millennia... it's just so great seeing Thor's future unfold and how King Thor truly shines.

Personally my favorite is probably a version of Old King Thor. That old, weathered, grizzled look, with the long beard, the eyepatch, the uru arm... It's so damn badass. I really hope we see that someday in the MCU. It would be a sight to behold and they could make an epic movie about it too.

I like the King Thor that fought Desak and Perrikus, he was older than usual but not old.

I guess you could say he was middle aged King Thor, then he eventually became the most powerful version of Thor ever which is Rune King Thor.

I just love Ragnarok so friggin' much

How they managed to make a movie so radically different from anything that came before (i.e. vibrant and hysterical), and yet still have Ragnarok be one of the most continuity heavy MCU films- with callbacks large and small and payoffs to things done years prior- is just really f***ing astonishing.

You and me both man.

Marvel/Taika Waititi/Chris Hemsworth pulled a magic trick with Thor Ragnarok. They revitalize the franchise and the Thor character in a massive way. Thor Ragnarok was also key to how well Thor was perceived in Infinity War. Personally i wasn't expecting the sort of film we got, regarding Ragnarok, but i couldn't help to love the final product which was something so distinct and fresh. Taika and his vision totally won me over.

Sure TR isn't perfect and some edges could have been smoothed over to really improve the final product but the highs are so consistent throughout that the lows naturally take a back seat to everything else. 1 year later and after seeing TR for like 8 times i can say that it holds up well. The visuals, the music, the humor, the action... the characters, the worlds... it's such a gem of a movie.

Old King Thor is having a pretty awesome story in his book. He's facing the end of the universe and encounters the final host of the Phoenix!

It does indeed sound interesting so looking forward to reading it.

I've fallen behind on the Thor comics as well due to being busy, but the positive side is that when I finally get around to it I have plenty of issues to go through at once, which I much prefer over waiting a month between each issue.

Old King Thor and Old Man Phoenix fought at the end of time.

In the end and after exchanging some powerful blows it looks like OMP has OKT pinned down and is going in for the kill... but it seems like a universal version of the "Led Zeppelin Force" happens. :D

I need to catch up

Just one advice: The stories in the present aren't good and the start is strange. The stories in the future are the best part because they're epic in scope, but even the writing isn't that great (Jason Aaron's Thor is kind of corny). The art, though, is trippy and much better!
