I really wish there had been more of Jemaine Clemente as Boris the Animal. what we got of his was great, he had a real personality to him that was sorely lacking from the villain(ness) from MIIB.

I actually enjoyed this very much. went in with low expectations, hadn't seen MIB1 or 2 in a quite a few years but was thoroughly entertained. 7.5/10.

They can easily write a way for Brolin to take over in the next movie. Just have a alien tech shoot something at a old K...then have him turn young. No time travel hocus pocus involved.

By the end of the fourth movie K is stuck being young.

J realizes he has a second chance at life. So J neuralizes him( a nod to the first movie)

K walks away

Part 4 will take place entirely in the mid-70's, what ever year makes sense to use Will's son as a young J and Brolin will be K - and comedy will ensue...

The original ending between J & [old] K had K mentioning how many times he had neuralized J while he was growing up, so this '70's adventure will be one of those times...

[BLACKOUT]The ending with that guy turning out to be Jay's dad was laughably predictable.[/BLACKOUT]

[BLACKOUT]Yeah, Soon as I saw him I was like, that's his pops.

At first I thought he was gonna end up being his own daddy. :o[/BLACKOUT]

[BLACKOUT]Wouldn't he have to do his own mom? lol, would've loved to see that play out and end up scarring Jay for life.[/BLACKOUT]

True. I thought Will and Josh sold it, though.

I agree, it was sentimental without being overly cheesy.

Woulda explained what happened to K to make him so freaked out about sharing and s**t. Gives new meaning to that whole, "Not asking questions you don't wanna know the answer to." :hehe:

Meh, for a film that's apparently one of the most expensive films ever made it sure looked cheap.

Pretty bad movie guys.

I didn't realize Boris the Animal was played by Jermaine from Flight of the Conchords until well after I saw the movie. Totally didn't recognize him. Good solid flick though. Certainly worth a matinee.

SPOILER TAGS.......USE THEM

understand.....

Since the movie's already out, I thought it would be okay. Sorry about that.

Much much better than expected.

It had heart, I liked most of the jokes (not all) and I actually liked that J displayed real character here, contrary to the other 2 movies. Brolin was fantastic, Griffin was a touching and loveable character. They not only took the time travel concept that BTTF introduced, they took it a step further and the time travelling sequence was one of the best and smartest in cinema history, imo. Boy, does TLJ look older than 66!!! Will Smith's still got it, though, and his usual acting style was actually much more appropriate here, because of the 60s thing. Great cameos, too. Sonnenfeld was bringing it, he used every single cheesy element and line to the film's advantage. And Jermaine as Borris was great, a good character. Wished he was in it a bit more, though.

On the downside, you could tell the script was unfinished. A certain female character was wasted and the resolution, while great conceptually, fell kinda flat, although it had so much heart that I gladly gave it a pass.

A solid 7/10. Good job.

10 minutes more and it would work. its not as short as MIB2 but still a short movie. not saying that it should be 2:30. but 10 minutes more and she could get more screentime.

Was I the only one that thought the blob fish in the chinese resteraunt was hilarious? C'MOWN!

Reminded me of one of those creatures from Adventure Time

It's a cute fun movie that would have been really good had they locked down a script before shooting.

Rating:

6.5 or 7/10

Had this movie came out close to the original, I might have a different opinion. While I think the film is enjoyable, and not a bad film by any means. It's a film in search of an audience. Most of the plot points are taken out of Back to the Future, nothing really original. The bad guy barely has any presence in the movie and generally uninteresting.

Emma Thompson has an interesting yet completely unused character in "O", and Alice Eve is pretty much window dressing as the younger version.

Bottom line I feel this was a totally unessesary sequel, and apparently audiences did as well, considering it drastically underperformed to it's projected 85M. And unfortunately Avengers has really risen the bar for what people expect out of a summer popcorn film, and while the first MIB was fun and enjoyable, this film just leaves you scratching your head.

Now don't get me wrong, my review makes this film probably sound worse than it is, because it's lightyears better than MIB 2. As I said, had this movie been released back then it might have done better. I feel this film is heading for a 70% drop next week with Snow White coming out and getting pretty good reviews.

7/10

It's not going to drop 70% and the fun but dumb Avenger's has nothing to do with this thread.

??? I'm stating that if this movie came out last year, I'd probably have a better impression of it. Really the film needed to come out 10 years ago. This movie seems like an apology for MIB 2.

I took no issue with that part of your post. Hell, I actually agree that the very existence of MIB 3 is a desperate move by Sony and the actors to recapture the glory that the franchise basked in after it's very successful first installment in 1997.

It is a failure and should have been released 5 years ago but I still don't agree that the Avenger's raised the bar for any type of film, let alone comic book movies and it won't drop 70% next weekend. Not even Battleship dropped that amount and nobody liked it. And it's hard to drop 70% unless your movie has toxic word of mouth (the movie doesn't have that) and is going up against a juggernaut and Snow White could do very well but near record breaking like The Hunger Games or Twilight films? I'm not even predicting that and I think I'm predicting more than most. Eh, I just don't like when people engage in hyperbole about films when their is no need to. MIB3 is a big enough failure on it's own, it doesn't have to drop 70% to make that happen.
