Mentos + Diet Coke = Explosive Fun?

Pop Rocks and Coke combined in an enormous explosive malange to horribly kill cute cerial commercial ubermeister Mikey.

Another:

A kid ate 6 bags of pop rocks at a party. He then proceeded to drink a 6-pack of Pepsi. The two substances combined in his stomach and exploded, killing him horribly. That's why pop rocks were taken off the market in the early eighties.

But the videos are very cool and funny.

Mythbusters (on Discovery) also busted the Pop Rocks and soda myth. I'd like to see them take this one though.

Oh, and Hulk, if not for the fact that I opened my e-mail before coming to the Hype!, it would have been new to me too. In a strange coincidence, though, a friend sent me the same link this morning.

This relies on the Metos being dry, so even if the Pop-Rocks and soda thing worked, this one wouldn't do the same thing.

Apparently, Mentos are heavily pitted with many many tiny holes, so there is a ton of surface area to form bubbles. So once the Mentos have been sitting in liquid for a while, for example digestive fluids, the outside dissolves and becomes smooth so it doesn't work well.
