So now that I'm posting here again, I'd like to start off with a rousing, lively, intelligent discussion.  Or something.
Do message boards contribute anything to your life? Are they just a momentary distraction, or do they mean anything more to you? Do you feel you've developed meaningful friendships with people just based on interaction on a message board, or is that impossible? Do you meet the people you talk to on these boards? Any horror stories on that subject?
I guess I like the idea that I'm instantly linked to all these people who share a similar sense of humour or interests. Especially when the interests are of the more niche-y variety.
