Clearly, there are different types of Batarangs. They clearly show a shuriken-like Batarang much like that in Batman Begins, as well as the curved ones you are talking about.
Would you them to be referred to as Bat-shuriken or something?
It doesn't destroy my day how they prefer to label it, really. It's rarely even spoken in name. It's just a distinction I would personally make if I were discussing his arsenal.

Yeah, that stinks. But the new Cap trailer is AWESOME! :awesome:

I agree. It may be very premature for me to say this, but I think Captain America might be a decent movie. And, it might catch audiences off guard.

I was half-sure somebody would be like "that's what she said."
And then I would have to say - yes, yes I did.

Hi five for nerdy awesome self awareness!

Last year I said First Class would be the best superhero film of the summer, with Cap not far behind it. In my opinion I've been spot on so far. *fingers crossed for Cap!*

Heath Ledger turned out to be a masterstroke, but wasn't that something to do with Heath Ledger? [...]
It slightly irks me that Chris Nolan gets most of the credit for Heath Ledger's Joker.

Well, if it wasn't for Nolan, we wouldn't have seen Heath Ledger's Joker. I don't for one second believe that ANY other director in the world would have cast Ledger in that role. Almost every fan on the internet freaked out when Ledger's casting was announced, and the few that didn't freak out just withheld judgement or said they trusted Nolan's choice. Nobody actually thought that Ledger was the perfect choice for the Joker. Except for Chris Nolan.

I did.:yay:

Me too. :)

When he was cast I never complained......granted I didn't know he was and mistook him for Herve Leger. :hehe:

I was apprehensive, as well I should have been, when Ledger was cast; but my worries were quickly subdued when I watched him in Lords of Dogtown thanks to a fellow hypesters recommendation. Then I saw him in Brokeback that's all the convincing I needed.

I wasn't too sold on Hathaway either, but unlike Ledger I already knew she was a terrific actress, i just didn't see her pulling off Catwoman. That being said, she blew everyone away at her audition (or so it is said) and Nolan hasn't miscast a major villain yet. So i'd say the smart money is on her hitting it out of the park.

Everyone does eventually get it wrong sometimes though...Nolan too, I just hope it won't be this time.

I did too. I hated all fanchoices and when Ledger was cast I thought he's perfect. Ledger was already the next big thing and if you think Nolan would be the only director to cast him, you're wrong. No director would probably cast Crispin Glover, Paul Bettany, or any other fanchoice.

I waited to see with Ledger, as I always do. I thought he was great in BBM and (believe it or not) I thought his broad smile was perfection, but I didn't hate on him or love him. I hated the 1st picture that was released, but it was all love from the 2nd pic until the day I die.

Same with Anne. I think that she is a great actress and hot (replaces the smile factor I saw in Ledger) and I'm positive thus far. It could definitely go either way, but I haven't been disappointed by Nolan's casting choices thus far (except for Holmes, but I didn't even hate her).

Yeah, all the fan choices flat out sucked. I couldn't stand the rumors. I mean anyone remember the Steve Carell rumors? Jesus Christ. I was always a fan of Ledger since The Patriot, and when he was cast, after I got over the "Wait, huh??" reaction from reading those two names together, I thought it was very interesting and great. I trusted Nolan since he did BB at the time. When I read more about it, I trusted both more. I was aching for information, because the thing was I still had no idea how Ledger would portray it, despite the faith I had in him. So as blurbs came out in the months after he was cast I thought they were spot on and intriguing. But still I had no idea how he would play it. Once Nolan said he was fearless I was sold completely.

His range from his previous films was all you needed to see to know he was a great actor, and despite any of us not seeing him in the role beforehand, he could so something with it. Even if we didn't know, he had the skill and talent to pull it off. It was such an out of left field choice it worked so goddamn well. More than even the believers could have imagined, and the beauty was we didn't know. At least for me, that was one of the reasons why I was so blown away. When I first heard his voice in that teaser I couldn't believe that was him. Then the laugh came and that was the Joker's laugh I heard. I still couldn't believe that was Ledger's voice. Once I heard that I knew we were in for something special.

I don't want to expect all of this out of Anne. Because Like I said, they'e two different people playing two different characterrs, with different reasoning for being cast. Anne is an unexpected choice, and I do think she'll do a good job, but all I want is a great performance. I don't want to compare her to Ledger in terms of how much she can blow us away, given Ledger's casting. That isn't fair. So whatever I experienced with Ledger's casting to those long months of the film's release and a gradual amount of footage and blurbs coming about Ledger, I have none of that for Hathaway. Which is a good thing.

Was anyone here hoping for Crispin Glover at the time before Ledger was cast? It was one of the more obvious choices, and I suspect it wouldn't have worked.

I was happy Heath Ledger was cast personally. It just seemed to fit, and he'd already proven he was a solid actor with films like Brokeback and Monster's Ball.

And I feel the same way about Anne. She's a solid actor and I believe she took this role to come out of her comfort zone and do something different - and that is exactly what you want from an actor.

I was here. And he's a mediocre actor at best, imo.

Glover can do weird and that's about it. I never understood the hard-on some people had for him.

His father's antics sure were funny though.

I distinctly recall both Heath and Chris remarking on how unsure they were of the performance until cameras started rolling. It was Heath that came to Chris about the role. And he was taken aback at how much Chris trusted his judgment. Simultaneously, there were times when Chris didn't know what the hell Heath was talking about. A funny story where Heath suggested Joker "throw" his voice, almost as if it certain lines didn't come from the same person, and Nolan just nodded his head even though he didn't get it.

I think it's just one of those rare instances where everything lined up so perfectly. From the interviews Chris and Heath gave, they were confident in their work but it didn't seem like they even knew how it would all turn out in the end. But their gut feeling was obviously very good.

Well it all started with Nolan thinking of Ledger for the part. I mean that right there is incredible. He was the only person on Earth who had Ledger in mind for the Joker while people were rolling around in their Crispen Glover and Paul Bettany desires.

Ha are you kidding? Half the boards were basically on two sides.

The Crispin Glover side, and the Paul Bettany side. With a few other smaller factions thrown in.

I myself was on the Paul Bettany side.

Pretty funny times.

There were three sides: Bettany, Glover, and Lachy Hulme.

Ha, those were some great debates.
