Welcome to the first edition of Metal Spidey's rants, where I, Metal Spidey, rant about things that bug the heck out of me. You don't have to agree or disagree with me, you don't even have to post a response. Just sit back and enjoy the ranting. I just have a few things to rant about this time, involving DVD piracy and the excuses that pirates give to justify their illegal activities. The words in bold are the excuses and my response is in plain text.
I have to sit through the advertisments.
True but I've had DVDs where I can skip all of them. Even if I couldn't, it's just a few, it won't hurt. You sit through commercials on TV with no complaints.
I have to see that stupid advert about how I wouldn't steal a car, purse, etc.
That thing is hardly 1 minute long, how can it be such a burden? I can see if it had siesure enducing lights and sounds but it's here and gone in a second.
How can it hurt sales? I'm buying the movie legitimatly before I copy it.
Yes, YOU'RE buying it legally but your friends aren't. They're paying YOU for a bootleg copy. Are you giving that money to actors, producers, directors, etc.? Nah, I didn't think so. If ONE legitamate sale could justify bootlegging, then ONE website could provide everyone with free movies because they bought it ONCE. Now do you see how dumb it sounds to say that your one little sale justifies selling mass bootleg copies?
And so ends my rant.
