Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Thread of HYPE

IT OWNS!!! XD

Ok, I'll stop being n00bish now. It's just a great game so far, you guys will probably love it.

I have to say, I have played MP3 for about three hours so far today, and it's one of the best Metroid experiences this side of Super Metroid. The freefall fight was intense.

Great stuff.

Won't be getting my copy til atleast the end of this week. I'm slighty jealous of those of you who are playing it right now. Lol.

I got it yesterday.....I really like it. I wish they do a spinoff with those other bounty hunters. They seem really badass so far.

The whole beginning of this game was awesome. From the
pirate attack on the frigate
to the landing on the first planet to the
reactivation of the generators to finally Ridley attacking you causing you and him to fall down the generator shaft
...which was an awseome epic battle.

Zenien, since you are also a Metroid fan, you are going to be in love with this game like I am.:csad:

A note to all who play. First thing you should do before you play is change the sensativity setting to expert. It will be the best first person controls you have ever used.

I got mine yesterday too. It is good. i was thinking it was a little easy, even while playing on veteran that was untill... (if you don't want to be spoiled dont read Unless you've completed 3 hours of the game)
I spent an hour looking for the grappler part of the Grappler lasso because I couldn't find that morphball hole on bryyo/ and rundas handed my ass to me four times before i killed him..hyper mode is a blessing
I also played the game in 480p widescreen over a friends house because i don't have hd. Funny thing is when i took it home and played it on my regular 36 inch (still using component caples) the game looked better? whats up with that?

I've only played through the frigate area so far, but it's really good, graphics are definitely improved over Prime 1&2. I'm still getting used to the controls though, was playing Prime 1 the past few days so much, it's hard to go from total lock-on mode to the more precise point the wii-mote mode.

Why dont you use the lock on option instead? I must admit though it was a learning curve getting use to lock on free aiming. At first I found myself locking on to enemys and just hitting A, assuming the reticule was on the enemy and missing the target lol. I had to get used to still aiming while locked on. Once I got that down I'm good, and while locked on if you fire a missle it will follow the targets whether your aiming at them or not. I can see lock on free aimng pissing off some people though

That's another point I wanted to bring out. The videos and pictures that have been shown around the internet and such does the game no justice as to it's art direction and animation.

The game looks wonderful, beyond MP 1 & 2 and more importantly, beyond anything GC could pull off. This game shows what the Wii can do graphically "If the company in question actually puts real work into it."

It just shows that the Wii can handle much more than people think, and that it's the developers fault many games for the Wii come out looking like total rubbish.

One of the things MP3 has is the addition of Friend Vouchers, and they need to be traded to others in order to unlock certain things.

We should maybe start posting our friend codes here so we can take advantage of this feature. Tonight I'll have to add mine, and if some of you guys who have bought it can do the same.:yay:

Thats a good Idea about the friends codes, but I havent been able to get online since I got a new modem. I'll see if I can fix it today though.

I do lock on to the enemies, but you still have free aim, is there a way to turn off the lock on/free aim option to just lock on? I'm not really sure I want to do that though, since I know I'll get used to the aiming soon enough. It's just a learning curve. Never played FPS on the PC, so I'm not really used to the more keyboard and mouse type system that Metroid is similar too.

Yeah, the graphics on Metroid are great, sure it's not 360 or PS3 level, but it still looks damn good and gameplay and controls matter more anyway, I'll take a game that plays amazingly with less impressive graphics over a game that looks great with crappy control any day.

I was watching Attack of the Show last night and they talked to a few gamers in the Loop about what they thought of Metroid and it was the typical graphics mean everything talk, that the system isn't for them, it's for little kids and grandmas, that no hardcore gamer will ever be impressed with the Wii. Metroid is great, Zelda is amazing and has a longer "campaign" mode than anything on PS3 and 360 outside of Obilivion and Resident Evil, while technically a ported GC game is great as well and shows off how much more control the Wii-mote gives you. I'm sick of people dismissing Nintendo just because they take a broader approach to their systems, with the possible exception of Sega they have always have had the best exclusive games because of their great franchises. My 360 is great and I'm glad I bought it, but the Wii is just as good.

Yeah you can turn off lock on free aim and just do standard lock on. You just have to go to the options screen and change it. But I think you'll learn to love lock on free aiming too. As far as peoples view of metroid and Wii. I have to say I'm not a Fanboy by any means. I just like good games no matter what system there on. Metroid is damn good but whats going to hurt it with the hard core crowd is the AI. Graphically its good thats by wii means and 360 and ps3. It just looks good period. But people who have played Bioshock or any of those games before playing metroid may feel underwhelmed because of graphics but because also the wii is harder to code intelligent AI because devs are working with less memory. enemyies in bioshock act really smart. The enemies in Metroid don't even have since enough to take cover sometimes ( the space pirates, not enemies that are supposed to be dumb like the worldy creatures). It doesn't take away from the game being great though. Because in my opinion they are smart enough. And it controls better than any fps on any console.

How do I get to the Satellite Uplink on Byrro, I can't find any way to get there, it looks like I need a suit upgrade, but can't find one. I can't believe I'm already stumped it's only the first planet.

Are you talking about the part where you update your ship? If so you have to travel to the question mark on the map that says Federation Landing site. Where that deep Chasm is that has the fallen Golem statue in it. If you scan the rocks up top they say a blast can cause the rocks to slide but no bean weapons or missles cause any damage to the rocks. What you have to do is aim directly across the Chasm where there are Fuel Gell crystals. you have to shoot them with the phason beam. They will explode and cause a chain reaction knocking the pillar down. This part took me about 40 minutes to figure out too. The hints are kinda misleading?

Last night I had to quit in frustration, because Rundus handed my butt to me twice. He is one crafty frustrating little devil.

I'm trying really hard not to resort to using Phazon shots just because I die a few times. I really don't want to lean on that ability as a crutch.

Dont feel bad for using Phazon bro because beating Rundas I think is near impossible without using it. Besides He's using it too. That goes for anybody in the game usined ped. You cant really hold your own unless you ramp up your ped too. It's like a Saiyan fighting a Super saiyan. He's not going to stand a chance unless he goes SS also..................... Damn I'm a Geek.

What will happen is I'll try it a few more times, and if I can't get him down..then maybe I'll use it. I'll get much more satisfaction if I can beat the bosses without it though.

So far my favorite new item: Grapple lasso. It is awesome to yank things from enemies or the walls. :woot:

I'm not sure what part you're talking about, I figured out my problem though, I was stuck because I couldn't find "entrance" to get the grapple swing.

That little alcove and rock you have to blow up is easy to miss if you're going too quickly.

Oh the part I was talking about isn't to far after that. That part you're talking about had me stuck too.

I beat Rundas on my second try without using Phazon while using the Advanced control mode. :P
