Transformers Michael Bays Says No to Transformers 2?

It is war between the Movie & Game Companies. It was one or the other & going by this out burst Bay is a Blu-Ray Fan Boy. He would not be complaining if Paramount sided with Blu-Ray & not HD-DVD. I dont feel sorry for Michael Bay once so ever for that reason. Hes only whining because the format he likes is not getting Transformers. If paramount sided with Blu-Ray he would not be whining if the HD-DVD owners were not getting this movie. In the end Bay is a Blu-Ray Fan Boy & paid off or not Paramount chosed a side. Michael Bay is not standing up for anything aside from the fact the format of his choice is not getting Transformers.

Do you have links/proof to back this up? or just pure speculation?

yeah...you'd have a point if it weren't for this quote from Bay.

"I want people to see my movies in the best formats(plural) possible. For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks! They were progressive by having two formats. No Transformers 2 for me!"

there's no telling wether he would've reacted the same way if Paramount went exclusively with blu-ray, but that quote doesn't give any indication that he's a blu-ray fanboy....as you accuse him to be.

There are MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars worth of deals behind the scenes happening with this HD-DVD deal. Michael Bay will not stop or change this.

This reminds me of the whole fight between New Line and Peter Jackson, but the whole problem is Michael Bay. He is arrogant and his arrogance may have just got him removed from his most successful movie franchise.

Please....dear God. No Brett Ratner replacement.

Anyone know what other directors are under contract with Paramount to direct movies??

And I don't get how if Paramount said that as part of the exclusivity deal, all Spielberg movies will continue to be made for both formats. I mean, he was exec producer, so Michael Bay could use that for the release. He just shot too early with that mouth of his.

Read extensively about it. It is out there. Goolge, holmes.

BUT..........Microsoft has been quoted as saying that they will keep the option open in the future to a Blu-ray compatability if the HD-DVD format goes bye bye. This is completely 100% fact.

One format will go bye-bye, that's a given, there's no place in the market for 2 format doing the same thing... (betamax vs VCR)....

Anyway, it's just big bucks,
No BAy behind Transformers, what the heck, they'll find BAY v2 in a sec, younger, asking for less money with bigger explosions

And BAY will be able to focus on Bad Boys 3

Following list of Directors under Paramount:

Steven Speilberg
J.J. Abrams
Jon Favreau

Nice start on replacements, eh?

What is up wrong with all of you? Do you really think Paramount would shoot themselves in the foot like that? What's the point of going exclusive with any format if the people who make the movies that keep the formats alive doesn't want their movies to have just one format. They're will be a Transformers 2, Michael Bay will direct and the movies won't be exclusive.

This is stupid. What has Transformers going on whatever format got to do with Bay? His job is to direct, not to worrry about what format the movie is going on. This ridiculous and ******ed.

I have to roll my eyes at all of you blind haters in this thread that keep talking **** about Bay. It doesn't matter what he does, you'll still hate him. Since when did standing up for something mean being arrogant??!?? He doesn't want to work with them because they are basically ignoring the other type of DVD choice. It basically, like he stated, doesn't give the fans that own Blu-Ray a chance to own the sequel in the future unless they want to jump over to the other medium and waste more money.

It's all about politics, there trying to monopolize one of those two formats. That's why I still buy regular DVD's. I'm not about to throw money on either one of those formats until one of them comes out ahead.

Bay's the man! Blu-ray for teh win!

I agree that films being divided by HD DVD and Blu-Ray is stupid.

I can also see why Michael Bay would be upset, especially if you look at it from a film maker's P.O.V.
It upsets me that Bay won't be making the Transformers sequel, because I liked how he handled the original and it wouldn't have been as good without Bay included, period. A new director will be fresh/interesting to see, but with the good, the bad will be the overall feel of atmosphere changing, as well as a possible decline in action. Bay's action is only surpassed by the likes of James Cameron, etc.

yea but its the studios job to keep the director happy

Bay will most likely do the second movie. While he can be ticked off for a few days i doubt it will stop him from doing another movie. Also i hate how people feel that actors and directors cant have opinions, but alas this is a message board.

I'm not hatin' on Michael Bay. I want him to do the Transformers sequel(s). A change in director is usually terrible (X3 is a good example).

But he is the one that shot first with this. He is the one being the big baby. If he was mature, he could have contacted Paramount and been like: "Can we talk?", and if asked on his website he could say "We are in discussions."

I am remaining neutral, cuz reading Michael Bay's post, I take away the following scenarios:

a. None of the currently contracted directors/producers/etc. were informed of this deal ahead of time. Bad bad if true.

b. He was informed and he just truly doesn't like the idea, but the idea of him flipping out like a baby is ridiculous

c. he is just a jackass

Did I miss anything?

Again, the little snippet in the deal that Speilberg's movies will remain dual-format confuses me. Wouldn't this also tie into Transformers??

Here is where you may be wrong.

Paramount simply dumped Tom Cruise's contract for his behavior off-sets.

Paramount is gonna let one of their directors bad mouth their huge deal they just made, in PUBLIC no less? And state "Screw Paramount and thier stupid deal. LATER!"

I'm sure that he will never make another movie for Paramount after this. It all depends on the fallout/deal that is made out of this.

Once again proof that fanboys over exaggerate like no other. In that statement I didn't see any caps or major exclamation points like he was yelling and screaming or crying out loud. He was simply stateing something he has a difference in opinion on. I don't see except for the illiterate how you can make someone into a crybaby out of that. He wasn't slandering anyone either, he was simply stating facts and what the future with him and a possible sequel is going to be.

For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks! They were progressive by having two formats. No Transformers 2 for me!"

In three sentences he:

a. Stated that Paramount sucks for not sticking with Blu-ray
b. Downed Paramount by stating they were now regressive in their format choice
c. Stated that they can take their sequel and shove it

Have you even ever read into his comments on various things in the past? He states how he feels, which I'm all for. He said blocky-looking robots were ******ed, amongst other things. I'm taking a neutral stance on this, but I honestly believe he will not be directing the sequel and probably not direct another movie for Paramount. History shows. I'm not a ****ing ****** for thinking this, like some of you said. That's offensive.

That's the thing, spielberg was not affected because he was only exec. producer. And since spielberg doesn't like this paramount deal, therefore, wouldn't wan't to direct TF2 either....or worse he doesn't wan't anything to do with paramount (which will leave him out of TF2).
