Ant-Man Michael Douglas is Hank Pym

Michael Douglas is one of my favourite actors and he gave the film a real boost with his Hank Pym, just adding class and presence to proceedings. I hope he appears in Infinity War, I want a scene between him and Tony. :D

I also hope there is an Ant-Man 2 and we can see more flashbacks of him in the cold war era [BLACKOUT]with Peggy. [/BLACKOUT]

The CGI on Michael Douglas in the opening scene was absolutely FLAWLESS.

Douglas was brilliant as Hank Pym, I love the opening with the young CGI Hank, boy I love to se more of Ant-Man's mission in the Cold War era.

The flashback of
Hank and Janet in action
was great.

Have there been any interviews where Douglas gives his thoughts on the opening scene? The FX were flawless. It must be weird to see yourself looking 20 years younger like that.

I could be wrong but I think there may have been a combination of practical and CG effects to de-age him. He looked like he walked of the set of Wall Street.

It looked better than Arnold in Terminator Genisys or Bridges in Tron Legacy and the budgets for those movies were probably higher.

I really don't know why they would bother to use CG to age someone up. You can do that type of thing with make up, and I imagine it would be far cheaper.

But....they did age Atwell up for CA:TWS.

I thought they would have used make-up for Ms. Atwell being that Peggy wasn't that old in the movie.

The reason the Russos gave for using CGI on Atwell was they don't like that most old-person makeup adds bulk when they wanted a gauntness for her due to loss of muscle tone and mass.

Douglas was really good as Pym. He was damn near the main character in this film.

Michael Douglas as Hank Pym was such a damn good choice, I loved every moment he was on screen from the start. And I agree, having him just added so much to the movie & I love that the essence of Pym was caught: a man who has made many mistakes but is always trying to fix them.

As with Rudd & Lily, am definitely looking forward to seeing more of him in the MCCU.

I was a little worried, from some articles/forum posts I'd read, that
this version of Hank Pym might turn out to have a slightly villainous aspect to his character, and that he and Scott would end up on opposite sides in Civil War.
So glad, from the posts here I've read in the last couple of days, that that appears not to be the case.

Michael Douglas gave a splendid, layered performance. He really captured the different aspects and nuances of Hank Pym's personality. His scenes with Rudd and Lilly were always a treat to watch.

I really want to see zoom interact with Stark. He seems like the only character that has the intelligence and balls to confront him.

No doubt Hank would love to rub it in Tony's face on how he's not impressed with him compared to Howard.

Douglas captured Pym and his personality perfectly. I'd love to see some cold war era footage with Hank and Janet. The de-aging of Douglas was phenomenal. I'd love to see him interact with Tony and Banner.

Pym's mentoring of Scott reminded me so much of Dc comics Batman Beyond animated series ,Bruce Wayne & Terry McGinnis relationship.

I watched that super close and the 1989 version of Douglas looked absolutely like the 1989 Michael Douglas. You compare that to how the same effect was used in Tron, the effects in the last few years have come along amazingly. Was as seemless as the young Steve Rogers

Douglas rocks! added gravitas to the film. great casting and really boosted the movie. well done Marvel

Douglas was great. I almost wish it was a whole movie about an old hank pym as antman going out on one last mission then passing the torch. like the 1st zorro movie with anthony hopkins.
