This is strictly about the quality of their music & whose you think is better. Nothing else.

prince is all kinds of cool, but michael wins hand down for me.

Michael... Without a doubt. Prince has always seemed faintly ludicrous to me... Then again so has Jackson... But MJ has the songs to back up his craziness.

Michael Jackson is the undisputed King of Pop, in my eyes.

IMO Prince, compared to Michael, is awful.

Ouch. I voted Michael & I still think that was a bit harsh on Prince.
Although I don't think anybody has voted Prince yet.

Tough call, because both are geniuses and amazing artists, and the quality of their music is about even. I'll go with Michael because I listen to him a bit more and I also feel he has had a greater overall influence (which, again, is a close call), but Prince definitely deserves more than his fair share of praise.

Hahaha

I grew up in a house that respected Jackson far more than Prince, and when I started to check out Prince, I could see why he was popular, but the force of my family weighs down on my bias nature too much.

I would also like to mention that Prince isn't bad, it's that, to me, Jackson was perfection in his prime.

I have attended concerts by both of these men-in the same arena, no less. I can lip-synch the dialougue to both "Purple Rain" & "Moonwalker"-despite neither of them being exactly a cinematic triumph. I've bought many an album by both of them. I spin both of them on a regular basis. But at my core I'm a Michael fan, pure & simple.

I'll go with Prince.

Michael is one of the greatest performers of all time, people still copy his moves. But Prince, in my opinion, is the better musician. When it comes to his music, he does it all; writes, sings, plays most (if not all) of the instruments, produces for other artists, etc. And it's like performs damn near everyday, they say he actually has a club in his house.

The only thing about him is that he's REALLY overprotected about his music and where it goes.

But I'm hoping that one day these two can make a song together, that would be a sure fire hit.

I doubt that'll ever happen. I can see Michael going for it but not Prince.

I actually remember hearing that Michael wanted "Bad" to be a duet with him and Prince, but apparently Prince didn't like that "your butt is mine" part as Prince said "I know he's not talking about me"

I read that somewhere; IDK if it's true or not. I didn't hear that it had anything to do w/the opening line, though-rather Prince never returned Michael's calls. Besides which, you can contribute to the lyrics in a duet. Happens all the time.

Prince I think is the more versatile of the two. Can't he play something like 27 instruments.

I did get to see Prince make a surprise appearance at a Stevie Wonder concert playing guitar on "Superstition," which was awesome.

Given the option, I believe in my heart of hearts that on this poll, Prince would vote for Stevie.
Then again, has ANYONE other than Stevie gotten both Michael & Prince to play background for them?

No, which is why Stevie wins over both of them. :cwink:

I'm just giving credit where credit is due. I remember watching the BET awards one year, & Stevie got up & did the two-step. It was like "Congratulations, everybody who performed tonight. You are now officially the property of a 52-year-old blind man!"

Stevie needs his own thread. The man is one of my Top 10 Favorites.

I remember that, and at the end he bust out the b-boy stance.

neither of them really do anything for me. though, from my understanding, prince seems to be the greater "musician".
