Midnight Meat Train Straight to DVD
Posted By : Meh, Wednesday Apr,09
Filed Under : Horror on DVD,

LionsGate / Maple Pictures emailed me last night to let me know that Midnight Meat Train will not get a theatrical release. It will be going straight to DVD despite all the fan buzz and hype for its release. This is despite earlier reports that it would be in theatres this May. Japanese director Ryuhei Kitamura makes his North American debut with Meat Train, Kitamura's previous credits include Versus, Godzilla Final Wars, & Azumi.

In Midnight Meat Train, photographer Leon Kauffman is flowing up on a lead concerning a series of brutal murders on subway. His search leads him to a mysterious man named Mahogany. Kauffman enters Mahogany's realm and learns the secret behind the horror. Watch the trailer below.

I'm suppose to see Clive next week, I hope all this bull **** doesn't interfere with him making his scheduled appearance .

Huh  This makes no sense, it looked good from the trailers and i figure it could have found an audience in October.

Quite sad, seems to be loved by most people that have seen it.

Read this and many similar over at IMDB:

the film is a unique experience. I don't want to blab away about the creatures at the end. The filmmakers took some liberties, but overall the film makes Saw(s) and Hostel(s) look like crap in regards to the horror genre.

Barker is back!

why this isn't getting released in theaters is beyond me when some other god awful movies (Witless Protection) get a full release into theaters.

So when's the release date gonna be for this then? They gonna wait until around Halloween to do so?

I love how the guys like, "I don't want to blab about the creatures. . .", did anyone else know there were supposed to be creatures in this movie?!? I sure as hell didn't! I just thought it was just about a crazy ass psycho blugdeoning people on trains! That was gonna be enough for me, but now you're telling me creatures are involved?!?

Dunno does this have something to do with the fact that Fox Atomic cancels all their R-rated horrors, other studios follow...?

It's ashame that it's not getting a theater run. The film looks like it has potential. Oh well.

Thats some ******** man. I wanted to go to the theatre for this one. I mean, hell, I'd even get on the tran and ride downtown to see if the Kentucky Theatre would have it on limited release :( This kinda sucks, but as long as it comes out, thats what matters

Maybe they feel they weren't doing so well. There last few horror films from there were Hills Have Eyes 2, and 28 weeks later. they didn't do well at the box office and feel they can make more money making crappy PG-13 spoof comedies.

I was really looking forward to Bradley Cooper as a lead in something. He's been doing mostly ass-hole supporting roles since Alias ended, and it was going to be nice to see him not only go back to being more of a decent guy, but also take center stage. I'll definitely catch the film any way I can get it, but I was looking forward to seeing it in a dark theater. Between the cast and the filmmakers involved, I was genuinely excited.

I never read the story so I had no clue either.

How does this go STV when crap like that film about the chick who gets stuck in the parking garage get into theatres as well as that remake of Prom Night...lame.

Yeah,
that's who the butcher is killing people for, their like old demi gods. Very H.P. Lovecraft inspired. :)

So Did I.

and to answer the question yeah it was.

the guy really isn't a slasher or killer He's just obsessed with the girl you gotta see it to understand it. it was co-written and produced by the guy wgho wrote and directed the hills have eyes remake.

See it to understand it? I'll pass, I've watched horror films my whole life. I don't think whatever twist it may have at the end will take away the fact that it's still some guy(whether he's a slasher or not) is chasing/stalking some girl.

It just doesn't look that great or original to me.

There is no twist or nothing. But fine whatever. Plus i really wouldn't call it a horror movie its more of a suspense thriller. I mean sure there's some Gore but that's about it.

UPDATE! We've checked into this further, and it appears that this may only apply to the CANADIAN release... There is still NO U.S. theatrical date as of yet, but it looks like all might not be lost (here in the States that is. Sorry, Canadians...). As always, we'll keep you updated as this develops...

After struggling to find itself a solid release date, looks like MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN (or, according to STYD, simply "MIDNIGHT TRAIN") will have to settle for one somewhere much later down the road - on DVD.

That's correct. We received an email straight from the source, Maple Pictures, that M.M.T is off the release schedule, now aiming for a street date "later this year." Anyone even marginally excited for this picture, like myself, has got to feel a little bummed...

Is this a knee-jerk reaction to THE RUINS not setting the box office on fire with a lackluster $8 million opening weekend? Are R-rated horror movies not called SAW out? Is the flick too hardcore for the mainstream - or is it just a turd? Maybe it's just the next ROGUE... I guess time will tell... whenever we get a look at the thing, that is.

Directed by Ryuhei Kitamura, MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN stars Bradley Cooper, Vinnie Jones, Brooke Shields, and Leslie Bibb (below).

Really, this **** is not funny....at all. :down
