Apocalypse Mighty as a hurricane, Gentle as the summer rain. Alexandra Shipp is Storm - Part 4

Just got back from seeing Apocalypse. Surprisingly enough, I enjoyed Shipp as Storm. She was not bad at all.

The movie itself...nah.

I did. She got more to do in that commercial then in the actual movie.

Next movie they better give me something rivaling this

Love Halle as Storm. Love Alex as Storm. But Alex power display was lacking. IMO

Yea they didn't give her much the big moment was indeed Jeans from the newcomers but this was just there introduction to the franchise again. No worries she should have much more to do next film.

Did anyone get a small commercial featuring Alex Shipp in the theatre right before the film telling that the crew worked very hard on the film and to please enjoy?

Yeah, I saw that. They're doing it in front of each movie now at AMC. It's an obvious attempt at discouraging piracy but they're cool enough.

Storm could have done a lot more, Shipp did a great job though. I'm not happy about the hair as Ancestry is much more interesting than just given. I choose to believe it was dye that just came out as he enhanced her powers. Also in regards to more development:
She should have told Quicksilver not to wait too long coming from someone who lost their family. That would have given her some more development.
What I also don't get is, you have the ability to really show her going all out with Magneto and they did nothing but some lightning, wind, and horrible flying.

I'm tired of the whole "well hopefully in the next movie we'll see her develop" cause we're 6 movies in and the next movie still hasn't come. Bryan Singer must GO.

At the end of the final battle Storm's eyes were bacK to normal as she was levitating back to the ground? Shouldn't they have been white until she hit the ground?
Were my eyes playing tricks on me?

The worst one is her conversation with Charles about how:
- She grew up in a little village
- Brought rain when it was dry
- But here mutants are hated and feared
- Why do they have to hide?

And that one wasn't even released with deleted scenes either. :csad:

I would have love this scene. Where Di you hear this information?

The second gif is what has been lacking. It shows Storm 'using' her powers and concentrating. Not just whipping her hands into the air and hey there's lightning.

She created wind in Apocalypse but it was another 2 second shot and left to the CGI to do the work.

i agree with this him and Kinberg need to go they are poisoning a great franchise we need someone different onboard, we need actual fans of the XMen comics on these films. I honestly don't want another Singer film.

Her eyes don't need to be white if she is just flying. I didn't notice that part but in the comics when she flies or even sometimes using her powers her eyes aren't always white.

Man I really liked Shipp as Storm and her accent as well. But like everyone has been saying, really underused :csad: . Her scene with Apocalypse at her place was fine. And then the rest of the movie it's like... where does she go? The scene mentioned earlier with Charles would have been a great help. Then maybe just some small interaction with one of the kids during the battle and I could buy why she would turn on Apocalypse and appear at the mansion at the end. As it stands in the movie it comes out of nowhere.

Another small observation, did it seem to you guys like Storm striking Apoc with lightning was what kept him from teleporting out of there at the end? It seems the movie seemed to set this up with Kurt being unable to teleport out of the cage in the beginning and then from Stryker's plane/helicopter. Seems like an electric field disrupts teleportation or something?

Yeah, she was the one of the horseman we KNEW was gonna switch sides, and she should have had more development over the course of the flick.

When Storm struck him with lightning that is what preventing him from teleporting I'm not sure if it's the logic they used with Nightcrawler or not. I agree with you though once the Horsemen got recruited they literally got lost in the movie I think they should had more to say and do afterwards they dropped the ball with that.

I'm fine with Psylocke and Archangel being relegated to action scenes for the sake of the other characters (although I actually liked the little bit we saw of Warren in the cagematch and the scene where he is recruited), but Storm needs adequate development.

I was just thinking I would have liked if Storm got the upper hand against Cyclops during their little stand off and she hurts him with one of her lightning bolts and then immediately realizes this is not what she wants to be doing. IDK, I just feel like it's little things that would have improved her character. We didn't necessarily need large scenes of dialogue in this movie.

Omg that battle with Cyclops really let me down they literally just started and then it was just over because Nightcrawler teleported him out I just wanted more from that and I really wanted that scene with Storm and Prof X that I heard about
. Storm is a very very popular XMen she broke down barriers in the comics she should not be relegated to a silent horseman I really wanted more from her and less from Magneto.

And those are why the Storm of this movie isn't superior to the Storm that we got in the past. Storm was quite useless in X1 but that power display in X1 was amazing! :ilv: And Storm was pretty good in X2! :woot:

Yes to this I agree they really need to step up their game with Storm, like utilize her properly in this new timeline.

I'm done holding my breath for "next time". All Storm did in this movie was lift up a car with wind. A car, ya'll. :whatever: I mean...that's IT??? That's all they've got for the "enhanced" Storm Apocalypse created? He "enhanced" Magneto to disrupt the planet's gravitational fields. What did he give Storm that she didn't already have? Oh yes. Her white hair. :whatever:

GTFO.

It's been 16 years and clearly Bryan and Kinberg & Co. don't know what the hell to do with this character. How many more movies do we need to see where this fact is clear?

I appreciate what they've done. But seriously, get them the hell out. The horse has been beaten to a damn PULP when it comes to FOX Studios and Storm of the X-Men. They're not going to get it as long as Bryan Singer is involved. Bring another director that can appreciate not only Storm, but her relationships with the X-Men as a team AND as a family.

I agree and that's because the focus was on Magneto he amped up all these Horseman but only showed off 1/4 of them. I feel your frustration with how they are treating Storm in this franchise but I really do see hope, I do want someone else on board for the film though. Like I truly hope they get a new creative team for the next film.

I thought she did a fine job with what was given to her. She did a far better job than Halle Berry.

Yea we agree she did good with what she had but it was just not much that was given to her, some of us wanted more. After her recruitment she along with the other who weren't a Magneto went silent

Well in any case she was still given more meaningful story in this film than Berry was given in three, and yet still that isn't much.

The idea that it takes three movies to develop the same damn characters is played out and it showed when we were literally hearing the same lines from previous x-men movies. In this day and age of comic book movies it isn't too much to ask that even side characters have development, personality, and make memorable impressions.

Jean Grey fans can say she wasn't done right in x3 but throughout 4 movies she's still has had more development than most others, hell, we're probably about to go right back into the Dark Phoenix saga, again! It's time for new management and the story retreads and decreasing box office proves it.

They weren't "silent" as some are proclaiming but they weren't chatterboxes either.
The one more scene I would have included was Charles talking to each of them and not just trying to convince Erik.

Still haven't seen the movie but going by everything I've heard towards the underdeveloped characters, I still agree with this 100%. Singer doesn't seem to know what to do with female characters, which is a shame because X-Men is the only place in Marvel where there are actually loads of awesome heroines.

And Singer is wasting them all.
