Getting there... Might all be assembled and finished by Wednesday. :D

It’s fun to see these go from out of the packet to finished product.

I stress through the entire build process... It’s only when it’s finished and “on the table” can I really appreciate the model.

People, do you have any f**king idea just how tedious it is to paint with a toothpick...?
Even worse to have to do it twice because the coloured paint is transparent and needs a silver base coat to make it "pop".
:mad::csad::wow:
But it's done now, not a 100% but as good as I can do it!
:D

Tomorrow, the dashboard decals... And when the satin clear coat arrives, I will then seal it all up!

SO jelly I always wanted one of those Aoshima KITT kits. the one I want has the real light up and swooshing scanner but they are SO pricey :(

I got a bit of a bargain with the model. You're right, the add on scanner is very expensive. Because it's not manufactured any longer.
However, just google "larson scanner" and there are a lot of results for circuit boards to build your own.
It's not that difficult with the right LEDs to make one that fits in the engine compartment.

I'm going to leave the body unglued so that I can come back and add one. :D

In a change of pace because I am waiting for materials to continue K.I.T.T.
My C3PO needs a base and I have to finish him off with greeblies...

The base is constructed from styrene sheets and filled with plaster to give it some mass. The feet have had holes drilled out for pegs to be fitted. Corresponding holes will be drilled in the base and hopefully that will allow C3PO to stand up safely.
As the paint is very metallic, I can't use a top coat as it would ruin the metallic sheen.
So I need to make sure he is stable and safe!

Nearly forgot to do the black bits on his hands...2020-05-10 11.02.48.png 2020-05-10 11.02.35.jpg

Had to repaint all of the wires... I think the matt varnish top coat dissolved the paint... Grrrr...

Seeing Threepio's "guts" always takes me back to childhood for some reason. I think it's cuz my brother had a Threepio model he worked on when he was a teen. Paid a lot of attention to the wires and stuff on the torso.

It's always the little things that take the longest... :cwink:
Look at his legs, arms and head!
Then there's the base and sorting out the posts to go into said base and his legs.
What with glue having to set and painting those last bits and bobs, he is not going to be finished today. :csad:

Then that's it until I get more materials that I have ordered for carrying on with K.I.T.T.

Bloody Hell, I've only now discovered that the thumbnails when clicked embiggen to the full size...!
All this time I could have added reasonable sized posts! :D

That being said, for those that like to look at this stuff of mine, do you prefer the full size images off of the bat?

Edit...
Actually, I think I take it back, the images aren't as big as when I insert the full image...
