Modelling and Painting

it's the LITTLE details on that KITT model that make it stand out like having the side marker lights be separate pieces and the recessed buckets that contain the tail lights even tho you would NEVER see them once the dark lens is inserted over them. I had a model of a 57 Chevy Bel air that had hidden details like that, the real car has ducts that connect to the back of the headlights and connect to the firewall it was how you got fresh air into the car's interior. the model had those ducts but you would ONLY see them if you turned the car on it's roof and took off the front wheels!

got the zvezda T-14 armata at 1/72 scale this week, quite a nice kit for me

Tomorrow,I'll finnish my serbian tiger Weserhütte (what if using trumpeter E-75 kit at 1/35 scale,a verry easy kit to build beside the suspension)

tiger Weserhutte done,it was inspired by a bulgarian panzer IV ,so now it's a bulgarian tank being use after the war as a fortification and now he's expose in a museum (what if scenario)

Recently I've been toying with the idea of purchasing a Discoprise model kit, transfers and light kit (which seems to come with a combined price tag of £200-£250).

Seems a bit much, but I guess it's a rare item. I've seen some Instagrammers who have the model all lit up and it looks super cool.

I'd share, but I don't know how to share in here from Instagram. I also want to upscale a couple of 40k Space Marines, or purchase some of the new 7" ones and custom paint them, but I find them a bit limited.

What to do?

Well, apart from your obviously questionable taste in Star Trek ships... :hehe:
I’d say go for it! :applaud

I’ve now, pretty much, got all the bits and pieces to start making my silly large TOS and TMP Enterprise kits. Including tons of extras... All I need is the motivation to get started.

Edit
My 5,000th post!
And its only taken me almost 10 years to get there...

I very much like the discoprise; simply because it fit with the theme of the show. It's a modem take on an old design. Had the TOS Connie showed up in Discovery, that would have looked out of place I think.

Still, each to their own. I might just have to get that model kit though. I was toying with the idea of a different name to Enterprise too, but it doesn't seem there's other transfer options for it yet.

I am not a fan of Discovery, as you might have guessed!
However, I did like the fact that the Discovery ship was somewhat based off of Ralph McQuarrie`s Enterprise designs from the aborted Star Trek Planet of the Titans movie in the mid 1970`s
Ralph McQuarrie's concept art for a Star Trek movie in 1976-1977

As you well know, I am not a young mind... Nor do I believe I have had a fresh idea for at least the last two decades...!
As for tolerance? Well, I refer you to my first sentence. It seems the older I get the less tolerance I have... :D
At least you can joke and discuss it like an adult, rather than hate speech.

Unless you're just in a good mood today? :p

Well, I finally did it. I ordered myself an Enterprise. I went all out, and got the lighting kit and decals too, came to around £155 ($210) and there's probably some import tax involved that I've yet to pay..

Just gotta' take my time with this, and then decide whether to be boring and go with the USS Enterprise, or get a little more creative and have a custom registry printed.

12 week wait though! o_O

Well, it'll only take you 2.5 years to collect all of the magazines you need to build it...!

Despite the implied 12 week wait, my Discoprise model kit arrived today. Now I find myself pondering where to start with it, and how to go about it.

Any suggestions? Do I spray the pieces pre assembly? Do I assemble and then spray? Do I forego spray and paint?

No doubt there will be gaps in the model that'll need filling and the rubbing down a bit which I figure I could touch up with paint if I spray the kit parts first.

I want to do this properly and not rush it, cause it's going to be my masterpiece.

@Flash525
There are a lot of YT videos on this ship, I’d recommend that you wade through them and pick out the ideas that resonate with you...
But first, you have to post unboxing pictures/video...! :D

When I make a start on it, I'll be sure to provide those photos and videos for viewing. There's a few things I need to get in place first though, such as knowing what kit, equipment and paints etc I'll be needing. I don't want to unbox everything and run the risk of damaging or losing pieces.

You might even want to consider creating a separate thread for it...

A bit odd to reply to oneself but here we are, 2020 has just been all round weird and here I am adding to it!
But, a good reason for doing so, as I have looked at a lot of pictures of this "get it week by week" kit and because they are supplying the saucer section in, what are essentially, wedges. There are going to be a lot of seams there that were never on the original model.
So unless the final model fits together way better than these prototype images? I will be passing on this, I think...

Probably!
