Morgan Freeman is Mandela

It's called Invictus?

Is this even about Mandala mostly??

I'd totally dig Matt Damon as Captain America after seeing that poster.

From IMDb:

The film tells the inspiring true story of how Nelson Mandela joined forces with the captain of South Africa's rugby team to help unite their country. Newly elected President Mandela knows his nation remains racially and economically divided in the wake of apartheid. Believing he can bring his people together through the universal language of sport, Mandela rallies South Africa's rugby team as they make their historic run to the 1995 Rugby World Cup Championship match.

I guess they couldn't go with his rise to power story because To Catch a Fire kind of already did it.

When we will see a trailer?

Is this movie about Mandela, or whoever Matt Damon's playing? This just another "white dude saves Africa" movie?!? :cmad:

That's what they do...save Africa then sleep with the hottest African chick there, who at first rejects, then throws herself at him. Duh. :awesome:

Wow alot of Mandela stuff at the moment there has already been two TV movies
Mrs Mandela with Sophie Okonedo as Winnie Mandela and David Harewood as her husband Nelson.

Endgame with Clarke Peters(The Wire) as Nelson Mandela, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Thabo Mbeki as well as John Hurt, Mark Strong, Johnny Lee Miller and Derek Jacobi.

If you know the story of the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa you'd know it's well and truly about Mandela. For decades Rugby was seen as the white man's game, in a bid to heal old wounds he went on a quest to get the black community to put aside their hatred and for the good of the whole country and unite in supporting the all white national team during their World Cup campaign. Look for video of the 1995 Rugby World Cup final on youtube. And for the record Damon is playing Sth African captain Francois Pienaar.

Trailer!

Don't really care for the accents, but this has Oscar written all over it.

Ah, that brings back memories.

Looks pretty decent, I love both leading men so I'm down for it.

I think if they ever go back to Mandela's early years, they should get Dave Chapelle. His portrayal of young Nelson Mandela was quite inspiring. :o

Morgan Freeman looks and sounds like....well,Morgan Freeman.

It looks way too pretentious and self-important.

I hate movies that beats a stick on your head with it's message instead of leaving you make your own conclusions...the academy will eat this up.

Me'h.

i must say that i agree with this. i will whait for the movie. but in the trailer i saw morgan freeman playing morgan freeman.

i bet a lot of people wont even know that this is mandela.

:hehe:
MAndela smoking pot was epic

But yeah going back to the trailer. The accent isn't too thick and the performances seem to be stellar.
Typical oscar ****e movie :csad:
SOmetimes you wonder if studios really are making these movies just for the awards

As a South African and a huge supporter of my rugby team I am very excited about this film.

Of course they do. They wouldn't release films like this in March.
its Clint. when was the last time he did a movie that was not for teh oscars?
its a movie designed for awards.

Eastwood has made great movies lately, but that trailer... well... it sort of told everything allready. No need to see the movie anymore. And Morgan Freeman is too Morgan Freeman.

Matt Damon pulled of a better Pienaar than Morgan did Nelson.

Seeing this trailer and the Green Zone trailer on the same day highlights what a versatile actor Matt Damon is, this looks like another stellar performance from him. The film itself looks well made and I am a huge fan of Clint so I will see it, but I suspect some may find it a bit to on the nose.

Damon sounds pretty good accent wise. Looks like a pretty good film.. shouldn't expect anything less with those involved I guess.

I liked DiCaprio's accent better, but that's going by the whole movie. Case is still out with Damon. And I can't imagine another actor playing Mandela, but that has to be the most unconvincing impersonation I have seen from a 30 second spot.

Agreed, Damon is definitely coming across more like Piennar than what Freeman is as Mandela.

And designed for Rugby fans!
