Morrison's Multiversity

There wasn't until Grant created it. In fact, there appears to be three-

The "classic" Marvel world, where Thunderer came from.
An "Ultimate" style world with dopplegangers of his world.
Plus the "Just Imagine Stan Lee's DC World".

Well, obviously, what I meant was that I didn't know there was going to be a Marvel world featured in Multiversity. I don't remember that one being talked about before.

He talked a little bit about it in one of the articles about the series. He wanted a throwback to when DC would do their spin on Marvel's stuff and Marvel would do their spin on DC (Squadron Supreme).

Ah, probably missed it or forgot considering how long this has been from announcement to release.

Amazing. Everything I love about comics.

So the Gentry is us? With our SMS speak and desire to make these superheroes 'LIKE US'.

Interested to see how much all these individual world stories tie into the meta-story.

One thing I never get is how Earth-23 President Superman's secret identity works. No glasses or anything. Does anyone have an answer for this?

He takes a lot more care to cover his tracks than Earth-0 Superman. Like in Action Comics #9 with the robot that stands in his place while he's off heroing.

But aren't their faces the same? (The president and Superman?)

Also the Thunderer is instantly a fav character of mine. Excellent costume design there too with the Australian Aboriginal line-art and color. Just great. And it made me so happy that in this big high concept revolving watchtower there was an indigenous Australian calling people 'mate' and 'blackfella'.

But if he's giving a speech at the same time Superman's doing something that makes the news, what reason would they have to suspect anything other than "oh, they look similar."

They really should add orig. Donna Troy to the Multi team which would partially explain why she wasn't "reincarnated" in Earth 0.

issue 1 was downright amazing. I got a seven soldier feeling out of this. Reis art was incredible. Simply incredible. Can't wait to read more of this.

Hope this inspires spinoffs. I'm loving the look of their Captain Marvel stuff too much to not want a whole series. I mean...

The morrison's legacy will always inspire spin-off. Grayson is a great example of that.

This Review Is In The Form of a Live Dissection: The Multiversity Annotations, Part 1
David Uzumeri said:
Teased for years and finally launched this week, The Multiversity is a universe-jumping series of DC Comics one-shots tracking the cosmic monitor Nix Uotan and an assemblage of star-crossed heroes as they attempt to save 52 universes and beyond from a trippy cosmic existential threat that, like much of Morrison’s best work, represents something far more mundane and relatable. Tying back into the very first Multiverse story in DC’s history, the heroes of these universes become aware of this threat by reading about it in comic books… comic books that, it turns out, take place in neighboring universes. Indeed, writer Grant Morrison continues his streak of highly metatextual DC cosmic epics with this eight-issue mega-series (plus one Tolkienesque guidebook).

Described by Morrison as “the ultimate statement of what DC is”, The Multiversity naturally offers the reader much beyond the surface level adventure, and that means annotations. Rather than merely filling out checklists of references, my hope with this feature is to slowly unearth and extrapolate a narrative model for Morrison and his collaborators’ work on The Multiversity; an interconnecting web of themes and cause and effect that works both on literal and symbolic levels.

Three pages into the preview for The Multiversity #1, I knew I was going to have a lot to work with.

With no further ado, go get your erasers and your textbooks, close your laptops, sharpen your pencils, and get ready for some course notes. Let’s go to school.

After reading Multiversity #1 i can confirm a suspicion of mine. Grant Morrison is the greatest comic book writer of our time and one of the best writers in general of all time !!

Don't mean to derail this thread, but I didn't feel like creating a whole new one just for this question. What do you guys think is the best Morrison book/run that I've never read? I've read All Star Superman, Final Crisis, Batman, and We3. Reading Multiversity too, of course. I have New X-Men, JLA, and Seaguy that I'm going through now or very soon. So out of these, which should I tackle next?

Animal Man
Invisibles
Doom Patrol
Seven Soldiers
other?

Read all of then..
All Star Superman is my favorite superman story to this day. I could have easily gone with other options as well.
