Mortal Kombat 2021

But.. buttttt... he killed that 4 armed prince that can survive an ax, but is instantly killed by plot armor's blades.

Why is the choreography bad?

Cole should get a solo film where he goes around attacking bags of ice since they’re they only opponents he had a chance against.

I am still genuinely blown away that they thought Cole getting his ass whooped while punching ice would get the people going.

Man, both MK 2021 and Battle of the Realms were such a letdown! :csad:
It saddens me to agree as one who had higher hopes for Battle of the Realms. I really wanted it to be as good as Scorpion's Revenge, but a good chunk left me underwhelmed.

i'm blown away how terrible Raiden and Shang Tsung were 2 very crucial characters were forgettable
I don't think I can forget Raiden, I think he's an annoying dunce with some of his decisions.

I just love that the movie violates its own rules. Like, Sonya can’t get into the tournament or activate her superpowers despite being a very competent fighter, simply because she hasn’t killed a fighter with the dragon mark and that’s the ONLY way to get in.

Oh but wait! Cole has the mark and is allowed in since apparently being related to a tournament fighter from hundreds of years ago also gets you in (apparently nepotism is a good thing in this world).

Nevermind the fact that if this is also a way to get you into the tournament then presumably there are thousands of descendants of fighters out there who also have this mark. Yet for some reason, Tsung is only worried about taking out Cole.

God, this movie made no ****ing sense.

Will we be getting a sequel?
It’s been reported that WB is looking to do spin-offs set in the universe of the movie. No word yet on a official sequel. Though I have to imagine WB is very pleased with the performance of the movie on HBO Max as it had the highest opening weekend viewcount on the platform; surprisingly beating DC movies like the Snyder Cut and also WW84(which Warners has confirmed a sequel to that is happening).

I mean, it makes "sense" to me. You have to be a Chosen One, with Chosen One powers, to get in. You can get those either by being Chosen, or by killing someone else who is Chosen.

Of course, this particular "sense" is loaded down with problems, and almost certainly just exists so they can have one neat and convenient excuse for why the fighters have superpowers. Because God forbid they write a story where "Kung fu superpowers, and other super powers, are just a thing in this world" is true. You know, *like the games they are using as source material*.

What’s hilarious about that is that creating a world where Kung-fu super powers are just a thing was a bridge too far for these guys because “realism.” Yet instead of injecting a bit of realism with characters like Jax and Kano and letting them just have cybernetic enhancements, they instead gave them superhuman abilities.

Hindsight is 20/20. But the minute this board caught wiff of the Cole Young character large majority knew the movie will be FUBAR i mean we were told by some leys see how it plays out well it played out worse than we could have imagined ibknow I keep harming back to Shang Tsung being terrible did he even shape shift in the movie ? To butcher one of the main villains arguably one of the most popular ones like that only Fan4stic did there villain worst

Eh, there’s nothing wrong with waiting to see how it plays out and I’m still glad I did. And I had even read the script prior.

Sucks that it didn’t work out. I kept hoping things might change in the final cut. But I at least enjoyed speculating on stuff leading up to it all.

It’s just amazing how cheap the movie looked. Like, I know it didn’t have a massive budget, but $55 million should be able to get you something better looking than that.

Its why I say "*one" neat origin". Maybe they are following some screenwriter's "bible" that declares that a good story Shall Be The Real World Except One Thing.
