Mortal Kombat X

Race is probably the only interesting thing about that character, so I can see why you keep going back to it. I mean, he still sucks, though.

I just don't get why NRS don't just do a horror fighting game. Krueger, Jason, Predator, Xenomorph and Leatherface already, it's not like they're having trouble obtaining licences. Just add Pinhead, Michael Myers, Ghostface and Ash Williams and you're good to go.

I'd love to see that. Heck I even posted a YouTube video of what a game like that would look like (with classic monsters too):

But FYI on the IPs; Freddy, Jason, and Leatherface are all owned by WB, which also owns MK. So those were in house transactions. Alien and Predator were from Fox.

As to an earlier post I do believe strongly that Street Fighter V will have guest characters too. If you read a recent Capcom SFV team leader quote when asked about MK's high sales he acknowledged that they were looking closely at what the completion does right. He went on to discuss better story mode and more accessible gameplay. MK also has gotten big sales boost guest characters down to a science so I'd have to imagine they will be emulated too.

Oh and just how good are MK's sales? SFIV in all of its 6 years of incarnations sold about 4.7 million units. MKX (pre-Komplete Edition and still rolling along less than a year in) 5 million!

Besides SF has always had guest characters of some variety: Final Fight characters, characters from obscure comics/manga, Mega Man, and of course the massive Vs. series.

When was a Mega Man character in Street Fighter? Also, counting Final Fight characters guest characters is a bit of a stretch.

Not really. SFIV was the far more technically sound fighter. Maybe from a casual standpoint it has a lot to do in order to keep up with MKX, but real fighter fans wont need all the DLC to stick with SFV.

I want to agree with you, (I really do) but I look at Virtua Fighter and think the game can't rely solely on it's gameplay anymore to keep relevant.

thats probably exactly why. Licenses arent that easy to get. If all the horror characters were owned by one entity, it would be one thing but it gets complicated when there are multiple studios and creators involved.

thats not true. SFIV sold more than 8 million as of September and this number doesnt include sales of Ultra SFIV from this year or any of the PS4 numbers

I wouldn't call the FF characters guest characters. They are proper SF canon. I also dont think the VS games counts as those are built on the premise of crossovers. Those are spinoff titles and their own series. I cant recall any actual game in the SF series having guest characters

He must be thinking of SFXTK which I wouldnt count. That also had Cole from Infamous and Pacman but that was a crossover series

If Street Fighter 5 were to put in guests, it might be best for Capcom to put in the missing fan favorites before doing so. There are people that are still pissed that those characters aren't in. For a guest to get in before they do would only just produce more salt.

I've also seen people try to compare MKX having guests to the Super Smash Bros games having third party characters. There's a bit of a difference there. Smash is crossover that adds characters from video games and varying genres. It was designed to be a mash-up of different games. It also isn't as story driven with a huge lore for the most part. It's like ramming your toy collection together to make a fight. However MK has a big story and a lot of pre-existing characters showing up in story that some of us like/love that have been in before. Throwing in guests, especially with fan favorites who were demoted to NPC opponents like Rain and Sindel means those fans are given the shaft for characters who that likely aren't going to be in future installments.

dang still no Komplete Edition in sight? I was hoping for one this spring. Guess there is still time to announce one

Kombat Pack 2 is coming soon to Mortal Kombat X! As promised, the first look at a raft of new downloadable content is here in a gameplay trailer showcasing the four new characters!

Triborg looks hands down the best, looking forward to him a lot, still unimpressed with the others

the pit stage looks awesome, although it does look identical to MK9's pit

I'll be getting Triborg and maybe Boraicho

so will this 2nd set of DLC characters be the last?

can't say I'm really interested in any of them.

Is the net code still an issue? If so, that needs to be taken care of before more DLC.

most likely. Though not announced, you'd have to imagine they are working on Injustice 2

Injustice 2 better be reveled by E3!

Damn. Those dudes look great. So happy to see my homies Sektor and Cyrax back, even if it is in the form of one character.

yes its still an issue but I think NRS has given up on it, they still sell games with or without good netkode so im sure its not on their priority list over things like more paid DLC

I just don't think they have the talent in their studio to do it properly. MK, Injustice and now MKX all suffer from the same issues.

If the past E3's in even numbered years are anything to go by it will be

E3 2010 - MK9 announced
2011 - MK9 is released

E3 2012 - Injustice announced
2013 - Injustice is released

E3 2014 - MKX announced
2015 - MKX is released

with all the money they've made off of this game, they really should invest in hiring some people then

So how much is all the DLC roughly?
