No contest, the Joker.

He's a villain of class and substance :joker:

Not to mention that Mark Hamill voiced the goblin in the Spider-man cartoon.
Which is pretty funny, because he did the Joker first

The Joker. He's been missing on screen for more than 17 years. And now, when 2008 comes, he'll be seen again under the helm of someone who understands where the character is coming from. Joker has been around for years, and years. He's one of the most iconic villains today. And I (including many others I'm sure) am looking forward to Nolan's rendition of the character. Against Bale's Batman. Just imagining what we'll be seeing a year from now, makes the wait worth a whole lot more.

Ledger's Joker is going to be completely distant from Nicholson's. For one, he won't have the exact same amount of screentime like in B89. And two, he'll be much, much darker, to set the tone of the films direction.

are you basing this on anything at all?

Now on the topic of my own question:O.......It's a tough call, weve' never seen Venom onscreen before but i also believe we haven;t seen The joker done the way Nolan is gonna do him

I love what we saw from comic con in the way Riami is introducing him,it reminded me of Alien but i'm also looking forward to the phsycological aspect of the Batman/Joker rivalry that im expecting Nolan to bring....Gah i hate my own poll:(

Stan Lee would have created Goblin without Joker,he is based more on mythos than on someone else's design and all major characters in this type of fiction have a personal nemesis that is their greatest rival

No doubt Stant Lee would've created a nemesis for Spider-man, but it certainly wouldn't have been the Goblin we know and love today. Maybe he would've had the name, but not the qualities that he shares with Mister J.

Yes. That statement was based on every bit of news we've heard so far. Check the Batman forums.

LOL :)

i just don't see how ledger can play a decent joker.

his voice is all wrong for the part, and the only thing that he has going for him physically is his abnormal mouth.

he's a good actor, yes, but i've never seen him do anything that makes me think he can pull this off.

granted, all the same things can be said of grace, so...

I agree 100%, with Batman.

The characterisitics and indeed the oriign of the Green Goblin comes from old fairytale mythos,in worlds where goblins, trolls, ogres etc were invented nto from The Joker, unless of course you have a link where Stan Lee says Joker was his influnece

He has Joker's smile, face and hair.

Also if he is good actor, then he can make very good Joker.

And Nolan is excellent in casting.

Just look at this...

To me, it's a bit close.

I love the Joker as a character. Venom, I think wll be terrific to see on screen, the visuals will be fantastic.

However, the Joker is the Joker, so I chhoose him.

In response to many people's opinion that Venom has NEVER been seen and the Joker has.

How I feel, is that the Joker has never been seen on screen, not the "real" Joker. He is going to be the main villain of THE DARK KNIGHT, while Venom will be a secondary villain in SPIDER-MAN 3.

It's about 60%-40% Joker-Venom in my opinion. I think that they're both going to be magnificent, but I want to see the Joker more.

From what ive read The Joker will have a smaller role in TDK akin to Venom in SM3 as the crime war with the mobs is the main story

I'm going with the Joker mainly because, it's the freaking Joker! For me, he's always number one...no matter who he'd be up against.

I'm curious about Venom. I don't have the knowledge of Venom but I do sense how important he is to the Spider-Man fanbase so I'm very curious.

But again, it's all about the Joker for me...and now that Ledger is playing him, I really have to see what's he going to be like.

Venom ... without question.

The joker has been done ... and done well by Nicholson.

Venom will be the new T-1000 ........ a visual effects feast for the eyes.

Venom has never been done before so I vote Venom.

Both will be outstanding though and i'm anticipating Grace and Ledgers performances.

I dont see it either. I may be presently surprised but at this point I do not see it. I think he's a good actor but I really dont see it.

I think the only possible issue with Ledger is the voice. Everything else works so we'll see how it goes.

Venom.

I'm a Batman fan, but I've already seen the Joker. While I have never seen Venom. Thus, for me- Venom, no doubts about it.

I'm a Spider-Man fan and I voted for Joker. Joker is going to be straight out of the kythos and on to the screen.
In Spider-Man 3 we have twig boy portraying Venom.

This is difficult to judge IMO.

Joker is a very dynamic character and Nolan will probubluy give us something alot closer to the comic verzion then whatever it is we got from Nicholsons blatant over the top actiong bravado.

Topher is a very good actor dare I say he has more acting chops then Ledger Traffic (very well done drug movie) is an excellent dispaly of just how well he can play a villainous sort of character.

Joker is clearly more the maniack and the set up at the end of Begins makes him very interesting indeed. I have a feeling Joker will be a villain that Batman just can't catch and has been a problem for the time that has passed betwixt Begins and the Dark Knight. We will get a sense that Joker has been around for some time I imagine a thorn in Batmans side a man he has been hunting for but can't seem to get a hold of..... making thier first interaction very palatable on screen. Perhap I envision something as simple as as A figure in the shadows who disapears into the darkness Laughing miacly.... and Batman giving chase.

Venom is.... Pyscho spiderman on Steroids more then a physical eqaul to spiderman so the first interaction will be a fight rather then something that twinges in your mind.

it all depends on what you like slugfest action fans will choose Venom... Phychological tension fans will choose Joker
