What incarnation of the Joker, in movies, tv, or comics, have you found to be the most cruel, twisted, or evil?

I was just watching ROTJ for the first time in a loooongg while and was reminded of how menacing he was in that film. What he does to Robin is just sick. So, surprisingly, i'd say the Animated Series Joker takes the cake for me.

Then again, he did poison those boy scouts in TDKR....:hoboj:

Movie... The Dark Knight...
Cartoon... Return of The Joker... Stands out more...
Comic... He was evil in all of them...But Killing Joke stands out...

I'll go the DKR Joker, but honestly? I couldn't give a crap how evil Joker is, I care about how good a villain he is, and most attempts to make him "eviler" end up wrecking his character anyway.

i have never liked the joker... but to answer the question i would have to say -
All Star Joker...

TDKR Joker was pretty darn evil. When you go to an amusement park and start killing children with poisoned cotton candy, well that is really extreme.

On screen, Heath Ledger's Joker takes the cake, with an honourable mention to Return of the Joker.

for me, joker in "the dark knight returns" is pretty much my definitive portrayal of him. I love it, he is so dark and his violent acts are so intense. it has got my favorite "batman vs. joker" confrontation in all of batman comics too (with killing joke as a very very close second).

When he kills Gordon's wife at the end of No Man's Land. He was scary as hell as he walked towards her holding the kid, repeating "She shot at me, and I dropped the baby."

Which Joker is most evil?
Even though I hate the graphic novel, the Joker from Joker is definently the worst. Not very Jokerish (at all) but by far the nastiest version of the character.

That's definitive the most evil. Really disturbing.

I can't believe this is even a question, Dark Knight Returns.

He didn't have to kill Paul Schaffer :csad:

well, it's not really hard to write an "evil" Joker. I could easily write the most twisted, terrible, evil, disgusting Joker of all time.

But that would not equal a good story (but probably to some of you)

The most evil and scary Joker was the one in Azzarello and Bermejo's graphic novel "Joker". This was the only time when I actually was disgusted by him as a character. In all other Batman stuff that I have watched or read, no matter how twisted and vile he is, the Joker is a likeable villain.

Azzarello's Joker story proves that. I didn't care for it much at all.

^Its not for everyone, but i think its one of the most fleshed-out characterizations of the Joker in comics. And i think it was defenitely the Joker in essential traits, even if it was unorthodox

It was a from a thug's point of view, which is why the Joker is more "thuggish" in it. He puts on a show for his boys, but the real Joker comes out in the third section

I find that to be the most disturbing aspect of The Joker, inspite of the evil things he does that are irredeemably bad, he's disturbingly likeable most of the time for some reason.

To answer the question, the most evil versions I've read have been in TKJ and The Joker GN. I'm ashamed to say I have yet to see TDKR, but reading some of what The Joker's done in it has it on my must-read list.

^all-star Joker was so frickin' lame...especially after TDKR

most evil joker
comic-All star batman and robin Joker/THE dARK kNIGHT Returns Joker, Joker graphic novel, Killing Joke Joker, post grant morrision white duke of death Joker
Cartoon-DCAU Joker
movie- The Dark Knight movie Joker
combined and Joker would be the most dangerous person alive

Seriously I want to say the DCAU Joker, because for one it was very debatable whether he was sane or not... He has the disadvantage from being in a children's show [especially with the FOX censors], but when they were able to let his leash loose when he was in the animated movies they really went full out with him. Plus a little variety other than just killing people helps as well (I don't want Joker to be a one trick pony like Carnage). What he did to Tim was VERY horrible, it would have been nicer of Mister J. just to kill the boy... Also, it seems he mutilated Tim just to piss Batman off...oh and the whole living in the future thing, but I think the main thing was to irritate bats. "If you don't like the movie, I've got slides" is one of the sickest, yet funniest lines in that situation. However, TDKR Joker gets an honorable mention...

However I haven't read the Joker graphic novel...would anyone recommend it?
