Most *realistic* marvel art?

Yea Ross's costume designs do suck, when I read KC I was like waht the **** if only his costume designs where as good as his painting ability. I still think all and all Ross is still one of the best.

I agree overall he's top notch, just needs to take his ass to fashion week or hang out with some people who actually knows how to dress.

His Wolverine sucks. He looks like a freakin bunny.
I was thinking Die Fledermaus.

Alex Ross, definitely. People complain that the covered parts of the heroes don't look "cut" enough, but that's one of the things that makes it realistic. Musculature doesn't show up with as much definition when covered up. Unless super suits are sprayed on, you're not gonna get the definition other artists paint on their heroes. The women look like trannies?

Nope, don't see it.

Marvel hired actual women to model for him, DC didn't.

I agree with you on the muscle definition thing. Some artists go crazy with that. Like for example Finch's Moon Knight. You can see his veins through his suit. Man if its that tight, um ouch?

I'll go with Alex Ross on this one, definately.

For design however, John Cassaday. That guy can make anything look cool and realistic. I was perfectly fine with Wolverine's movie costume and telling everyone how ******ed the yellow and blue would look on screen but when Cassaday did his take on it, I was actually more pissed at the laziness of the costume designers. I actually wish he was the one taking over Ultimates.

Alex Ross without question if we're talking superheroes in general. It looks like grown ass men in tights and that's exactly what they are.I don't know why people are complaining about this.Superman looks like a guy in his mid 30s with some bulge in his underwear. He paints the JLA like gods and it's truly inspiring to look at.

Also have to go with Cassaday,Del' Otto and Olivetti.

I have some non-comic reading friends who only read Ross' stuff and borrow stuff off me because they love the art so much.Except my issues of Justice, which I made them go out and buy themselves.

Alex Ross has realism down, but I don't think he gets emotions across very well. Sure, his JLA looks like a patheon of gods, but they look like glassy-eyed, emotionless gods.

Alex Ross' art in The Terminator - The Burning Earth graphic novel is my favorite.

It's ironic how people can praise Cassaday for "his" costume designs and bash Ross (I'm not blaming you specifically, Savage) for his when he came up with the designs that inspired Cassaday's. Check it out.

Alex Ross draws Captain Marvel like a pedophile, which I find ironic.

I prefer Dell'Otto over Ross but Jim Cheung beats them both in costume designing. IMO.

yeah, now that you mention it, the YA do have some good looking costumes. Nothing icnonic, but definitely destinctive

Seconded. Bradstreet and Maleev are really good in the realistic department.

Yeah and his action sequences leave something to be desired...since everything is based on photos all his action poses seemed posed.

Alex Ross wishes he could be a fraction as good as this.
