Most *realistic* marvel art?

Personally I'd say John Watson and Alex maleev.

one good thing justice has actually is braithewait doing layouts which gives a lot more energy to ross's paintings.

As some of you have said, Alex Ross hands down.

Ross uses photo reference so his art comes off stiff

in the new justice series he just paints/inks someone elses pencils so it has way more life...

otto's great and due to not using photos his stuff is way way more dynamic and he's just a natuarally good penciler and designer..
BUT he needs to cool it with the highlights...honestly atleast ross shows some restraint...not everyone needs to shine like the surfer

fact of the matter is those are 2 of the few who paint their stuff so it's unfair to just point out the "pretty ones"

ross painted over lees stuff recently and it look dumb but way more real...

that being said

Bejermo a great especially when he finishes his pieces

hitch is maybe the best(not the samuel jackson)

and those two don't paint their stuff
(otto painting hitch would be gold)

cassidy's got a nice touch but falls short of hitch

I prefer realistic looking artwork. As realistic as possible. John Cassaday is a great artist but hes no Alex Ross when it comes to realistic looking art.

relatively speaking steve ditko was brilliant at realism.

stuart immonen's style in secret identity was very realistic as well.

quitely as well has a very realistic style.

You know what I love about that guy (Immonen) he is like a 'one stop shop' artist Realistic art Done! Cartoony Done! Experimental art deco Done! Humor Done! Horror Done!

Aside for the realistic art subject this cat is f--kin' balls!

It's ironic how people can praise Cassaday for "his" costume designs and bash Ross (I'm not blaming you specifically, Savage) for his when he came up with the designs that inspired Cassaday's. Check it out.

Yeah all fine and Dandy, but Ross' designs still blows. Cassaday took his spark and did it 20 times better.

I like Ross, but really he's basically a colorist and would do well to work with pencillars who can get the energy across that he can't while he does the colors.

You're entitled to your opinion just as I'm entitled to think you're dead wrong. 20 times better? There's not much difference between the designs; especially the Wolverine and Cyke ones. A lot of his designs for KC are being used in current comics, not bad for a guy who "sucks at designing costumes".

I don't know if your comments are influenced by his attitude towards the fans. I know some people have started to think his art sucks because of it, I don't. A person's personality doesn't determine how much skill he/she has. Sure, may of the other artists are also good painters. The covers for Annihilation and many of the preceding minis are breathtaking, I love them. Do I consider them more realistic than Ross' art? Sorry, no.

Nah his personality doesn't factor, hell he barely registar's a John Bryne/Joey Q reaction on that front, but his art as Amazing as Kingdom Come was has always been static to me and painfully dated 'Iconic' yes but boring.

On the flip side of that if he and Bryan Hitch decided to team-up I'd be the first fanboy in line too buy whatever comes out of that.

Very good call. That was an amazing piece of work.

Alex Ross draws Captain Marvel like a pedophile, which I find ironic.

When I read this I saw my Cap. Marvel figure out of the corner of my eye, and I laughed because it's true.

Ross is good, won't deny that, but he's pretty meh to me.
