MoviePass, Sinemia, A-List & Beyond - Subscription Theatergoing

Not sure what you mean. We'd still have to take a picture of the ticket stub which have been doing it for a couple of months so if I'd upload the stub from a different from the movie I checked in for then I'm risking losing my membership. Unless I'm missing something.
No I'm saying people can get the tickets they're allowed to get then just walk into a different movie. They'd still have the stub for the film they used the pass on. It's like what kids do for R-rated movies they weren't allowed to buy tickets for, lol.

Got it, that's true. All of the movie theaters around me are now reserved seats which I love but wouldn't be able to do this unless I'd travel a little farther.

I've heard about uploading a pic of your ticket but since I've signed up I've never had the option to upload a pic of my ticket...

It's in the beta phase right now, so it's only applying to select users. I know someone here has had to do it for the last few weeks (I think Kane?), but I finally just got my e-mail about having to do it yesterday.

True, assigned seating does make that a little more difficult. But not impossible if you just don't go to crowded shows where they'll still have plenty of open seats.

Yeah, I've just recently had to start doing it. When I went to see IW again yesterday I got the damn message about having already seen it once. So I merely bought a ticket to Blockers, and waltzed into the theatre I knew was showing Avengers next. I didn't mind as Blockers was apparently a decent flick.

Was curious about this, but now with all the changes, especially the limited one-time-per movie bit, don't think I'll bother. The usable theatre near me has reserved seating, so if I do that whole purchase-a-ticket-for-a-different-movie thing, I'm bound to sit in someone's reserved seat.

So apparently I can see avengers again, it's not saying I have already seen this film. Weird.

That might be blowback from their increasingly "pray I do not alter the deal further" threats against people who buy into their service. They are finding just how far they can push it without pushing out or diswaying potential customers.

Eh, people can just use their MoviePass to get tickets for something else and walk into Infinity War. They'll still have their stub to take pictures of, so there's nothing to prevent this. This is just gonna cost Disney at the end of the day, imo.

True, but being as though I love Avengers as much as I do, I will contribute to its BO, LOL! I will go on $5 Tuesdays. Technically I have yet to use my MoviePass on any of my 3 viewings of IW (all were via advanced tix sales with different groups of people), so I can use it for it still.

But yeah, this is dumb and very transparent, LOL!

this is what I'll be doing going forward

Looks more like a Sherlock Gnomes guy :o

Lol, don't knock it. I've done it three times now.

The 9.95 unlimited deal is back.

Yay! Now remove the see a movie only 1 time in theaters restriction!!! :cmad:

All this talk in the news about MoviePass in the red, not lasting long and yet where they are sending me free month trial for friends lol.

Last gasp desperate hopes to keep the lights on.

Yeah, flickering out during the summer season will pretty much destroy any goodwill they may have gotten.

I am completely baffled by why someone would want to start a business such as this especially on such a wide scale?

If movie industry starts to shrink or perhaps business needs to be better at a particular theater or theater chain I can see something like MoviePass being pretty profitable if done in a certain way. Profitability I think would start with a regular insurance company (or maybe company like MoviePass) 1st partnering up with a particular business (specific theater, or studio, or distributor, or streaming provider). This specific business would buy into a particular service meant to attract more customers for a small miniscule premium with kickback deductable if profits beyond certain point to insurance company if profits beyond a certain point from repeat business.

This MoviePass notion seems pretty out there but glad it's providing something good for paying customers to these movies.
