MoviePass, Sinemia, A-List & Beyond - Subscription Theatergoing

So ****ing shady, it's unbelievable.

I lost about $200 with Sinemia.

This reminds me, I need to start using my A List more. I'm actually losing money at this point

I'm using A-List pretty much every week even though I despise AMC's service.

What do you despise about it, Kane? I've had no issues with it thus far.

I don't mean the A-List service (it's working great), I mean the theater itself. The AMC theater I go to is a mall theater and with all mall theaters, the environment (people, seats, and food) is pretty shoddy.

The only plus side is that theater holds a lot of independent movies and it has one Dolby screen.

Oh ok I should've gotten that from what you wrote, lol. Yeah movie theater service is a crapshoot these days. Thankfully the local AMC by me has been pretty solid in that department, but don't even talk to me about the Regal. :funny:

It does make me miss MoviePass, that was like this generation's Napster.

The whole concept was like this dude bro thing, yeah I fell for it Hook line & sinker.

I'm very happy with my purchase of the Regal Pass. I need to find more time to use my Regal Pass though. I already got my value out of it, but haven't used it much so far this year. Need to fix that asap.

I use my Amc a-list and Alamo Season Pass like a psycho, since watching and making films are my favorite things to do.

^ I love my Alamo Drafthouse Season Pass. However, I have to add the main reason I went for it was because Alamo Drafthouse is really good about showing older previously-run movies on a regular basis. Like, movies from the 80s to 00s most often usually, and sometimes even older. If they showed only first-run movies all the time like my local AMCs, I wouldn't have gone for it. That's definitely one reason why I'd never consider AMC's A-List—first-run movies are cool to watch for sure, but I wouldn't use it often enough during the week when there are only so many new movies coming out every weekend.

Can you use that Alamo pass on the old movies? I thought those were considered ~special screenings~ and weren't eligible for the pass.

Yup, I do it all the time, their system has never blocked a single movie for me, whether new or old. I've had their Season Pass since summer last year and have been able to watch tons of old movies that they've shown since then.

Well hot damn, that changes

Yeah it only blocked an attempt to use it on a 70mm film before. But 35mm was fine.

Might have to look into this once the Manhattan theater opens up.

Hopefully they'll try to open one in Queens since they are opening one Staten Island of all places.

I was gonna use A-List to see My Hero Academia today but apparently it's still under Fathom Events so I was like **** it. Don't know if it'll eventually be eligible next week or something.

With theaters shutting down (just Regal for now), I wonder what they'll do about the subscription services. Might just pause/cancel my A List Plus until this blows over

I can't cancel mine (Regal). I'm gonna contact them and see if they can suspend it until this passes and add them to the back end of my subscription.

Yeah, I may contact customer service for Alist as well

Now that they've basically said some new releases will be dropped on streaming I think I'm done. I know AMC is cursing this virus nonstop.

I will always choose theater over stream at home. But, if I don't have the choice to go to the theater right now, then I should be paying for the service. Play at least want to see if they're issuing refunds. Once this is over, I will gladly go to the theaters again. Even if they do this on demand model, I will still choose to go to the theater. The movie theater experience for me shall always shall always trump the home experience

Yeah I paused my A-List which you are able to do on the app and online.
