Some movies should never be remade . You can't remake Ghostbusters (not really) , Back to the Future, The Godfather, and so on. So instead of a remake or a under devolved sequel how about a continuation series like Asv vs Evil Dead. It's worked well for Raimi and crew . You could even do follow ups to beloved franchises without taking the risk of pissing off fans by recasting or "destroying their childhood". What films would fit into this category or what films would you like to see made in that fashion?

Back to the Future (Netflix )- a follow up where Docs kids are pretty much grownand like to hang with Uncle Marty from time to time all the while traveling through time and fixing the time stream in often comical ways . One son is more like Doc while the other is more like Marty. Have Christopher Loyd as a series regular and Fox as a guest star a few times a season.

The Frightners (FX)- a continuation of the movie with ghostchaser Bannister and his new wife chasing ghost and making ghostly friends (recasting would have to happen here)

The Last Star Fighter ( amazon) - after spending years defending the galaxy our hero comes home and finds he is out of touch with the world while grooming his nephew to be the next generation of star fighter

Willow (starz) - Willow takes up the journey for a dying mad martegan to locate his estranged son with the help of Martegans Daughter

Anyways just a few ideas , may work or may not. Just thought it would be cool and make good conversation

It never will, but Fast and Furious. It already follows the TV model.

The Truman Show.

Imagine it's 20 years later. The ''studio'' is starting a new Truman, and the original (jim Carrey) is suing them to stop them. Bring back Carrey and Harris, and make one hell of a mini series.

The Matrix

In an unknown iteration of the Matrix, freedom fighters take on the machines in a world split between a bustling metropolis that masks a tightly would and dangerously subversive system, and a post apocalyptic world where human factions are themselves on the brink of a civil war. Follow the crew of a ship full of diverse characters as they alternate between looking like they just stepped out of GQ or a trash compactor. Learn Kung Fu, bend physics and make the really hard choices.

Taken

Brian Mills' apprentice/daughter/second cousin specializes is ex-CIA and specializes in hostage recovery, for a price. He steps in to difficult situations to get back kidnap victims from very dangerous people. He tracks, he finds, he makes them sorry, and maybe, just maybe he reclaims some of his humanity along the way.

Edge of Tomorrow (I know, they're going the sequel route)

24 Meets Groundhogs Day. A really bad day, played out from different angles as different secrets are uncovered. The season long mystery spans how to win this particular battle and the series covers the decisive battles of the war, including those fought internally. Each episode may focus on a different element, piece of the puzzle or supporting character.

The Bourne Revolution

A woman wakes up in the middle of the desert with no idea where she is or how she got there. She makes it into town and immediately finds the CIA hunting her and herself possessed of a number of expert skills. She tries to discover who she is and why they're after her, what this has to do with this David Webb, and along the way she finds herself trying to do right by the people she runs into along the way. Narrative structure involves the CIA interviewing that week's pseudo-accomplice.

Die Hard Again

I'm just typing spit now. But Lucy McClane becomes a rookie cop, and immediately gets trapped in a large building with some really bad dudes. She works her way through the immense crisis while flashbacks reveal that she isn't here by accident by any means.

Jem and the Holograms (or Josie and the Pussycats)

Scott Pilgrim meets Nashville.

Memento

Start with episode 22 and countdown to 1. Each episode is a Memento plot. If there's a Season 2 it's a prequel. Plotting this one would be a beautiful nightmare.

idk if you know but taken is being made into a show. It will air feb 27th 2017 on nbc. i don't think it will work without liam neeson, famke janssen and maggie grace though but we'll see

Oh, I didn't know that. I definitely doesn't work the same way without Liam Neeson, but like all the others continuations, you need a new cast, premise and chemistry that hews close enough to the original concept to be recognizable under the name, but obviously stands on its own and would work if it were a brand new IP.

Requiem For a Dream...... the CBS Sitcom! :awesome:
