Yeah.... I really don't think the lives of Weird Science, Rocky IV, Teen Wolf or The Goonies are really a cause for celebration.

Damn, movies nowadays can never capture that magic one felt as a kid in the 80's, in fact I'm noticing that I'm going less and less to the movies than when I was a kid.

I'm noticing that Chevy Chase, Micheal J. Fox, Sylvester Stallone, Chuck Norris had more than one movie in that year.

Chevy actually had three with European Vacation, Fletch and Spies Like Us.

Sylvester Stallone had back to back blockbusters in 1985 and imo was at the height of his career. :woot:

Shame on you.

How dare you?

Rambo II and Rocky IV were the 2nd and 3rd highest grossing movies of 1985. Also, Rambo II was the first movie to open in 2,000 theaters. So, yeah, a great year for Stallone. And now he's celebrating a quarter century of his best year with the release of The Expendables in August.

When seen without the rose-colored glasses of nostalgia, The Goonies is pretty bad.

Are you hungover from last night or something? Cause you ain't thinking straight!

Maybe so, but one of them has turned into a very good actor 25 years later, probably one of the better ones out there right now. And it was a good movie.

And Pee Wee Herman is making a comeback in 2010.

LOL. I don't drink, so no.

I imagine alcohol would probably make The Goonies way more fun, though. :o

And Chevy has made an acting comeback the last few months. He's back to being funny again. Also, European Vacation was not as great as Vacation or Christmas Vacation.

Wow, I totally forgot all about Return to Oz. I need to go back and rewatch that. Brazil and Back to the Future are as good as ever.

Return to Oz on DVD has the WORST DVD ART EVER. Dorothy's right arm is clearly missing. But man, I love that movie.

i really think the magic years for movies were 1982, 1985, 1989, and 1999.

Now I'm debating what was the magic year for the 00s. 2008?

To be honest, I saw Fletch this past summer and it was okay. It wasn't a full on comedy..more like..I don't even know.

Fletch is like Beverly Hills Cop, but better. It allows Chevy Chase to do his comedy routine and improvise but it's also a well-written mystery thriller that keeps moving the plot forward as opposed to it getting lost in Chase's schtick. That's what makes the movie stand-out. Chase and the plot are able to co-exist. Unlike in BHC where Eddie messing with Tagger and Rosewood becomes the focus and the murder mystery is set to the side.

Brazil

My favorite film of all time. I think I'll watch it tonight.

Cocoon feels waaay older than 25.... pun intended. lol

For 25 years of Teen Wolf!
