Who liked Mortal Kombat Annihilation? Y'all keep posting unpopular movies, which means you don't get the idea behind this thread.
Alooooooooot of people liked MK Anialation when it was out.
I saw it. I thought the first movie was better. But the first mivie was also overrated. They make the list easily.

you do realise cast & crew don't count

I have to admit I didn't see anybody say anything good about MK: Annihilation when it came out. My god, even the effects were ripped to shreds... and for good reason. Maybe the people Sloth7d was hanging out with back in '97 were just massive Kombat-heads who would swallow up anything Midway threw at 'em.

I liked the first movie with a couple of reservations, and the TV series wasn't bad either.

I used to think that when I was younger but watch it now and you will be thinking to yourself, 'hey why doesn't the green ranger have his costume on' and 'why is tommy being called Kung Lao', it's really a horrible show

1-Bane is not someone's flunky. He is one of the most cunning criminals Batman has ever faced. He is most certainly NOT "all about muscle".
2-Gordon was in that travesty, just in a diminished role. And there was no logic to Barbara's story at all. She's this mysterious niece that Bruce never knew Alfred had, she grew up in London but has no accent, Alfred has no clue what she's been up to but makes her a costume & gives her the disc w/all the secrets of the cave (&makes a Max Headroom of himself.:whatever: ) & Bruce gives her no resistance whatsoever?
3-Ever seen a blue bat? I never liked him in blue, it makes no sense.
4-Arnold was horrible. Freeze's strength comes from the suit, not from muscle. He's not a happy-go-lucky, wisecracking, cackling Joker wanna-be. He's grim & bitter, like you'd be if you had to wear a refrigerator everywhere.
I swear, I could write a book on what was wrong with this movie. Like Batman's entrance to the museum. It took me a year to figure out why it bothered me so much & then it hit me; it was Fred Flintstone's signature move. In fact that whole opening scene played like a 6-year-old wrote it. The hockey fight, dinosaurs, Freeze's getaway car turning into a rocketship, Batman & Robin surfing through the air while Freeze flies off on giant wings-take your pick.
But hey, if you liked it, fine. Just tells me you prefer the goofy Batman over the Dark Knight. I personally watch no version of Batman that's not clad in black & seen as a creature of the night.
1. Oh come on, its a movie adaption of bane. I personnaly think the way they included him in THIS movie was the best way possimble. I have no problems with it.
2.Yeah it was weird how easily they let her become batgirl. You earn that fault against the movie.
3.Again, I really had no problem with the dark navy batsuit. It was okay.
4. Again, I liked Arnold as Mr.Freeze. It was a movie adaption and the change on his persona really didn't effect me. I actually liked the corny jokes he gave every here and then. It gave me the impression that he tells jokes because he's not happy like alot of people in real life do to hide their sadness.

All in all, I don't know how you guys percieved the movie. But I believe I saw it for what it is. It was a kids movie. That movie was in no shape or form made to appeal to die hard batman fans. They movie was made to get the attention of a younger audience and it shows. To be so judgemental of a movie and it was made for an audience that wasn't directed at you seems fruitless. And later on they realised that the hardcore batfans wanted a movie too. So they made Begins. Even though it was one thing about that movie that irratates me, I overall enjoyed BB.

I only know one person who said he liked it at the time, & that's my cousin, who was only 11 at the time. When I came out of the theatre, everyone was just as disgusted as I was. When the theme song cued up & the guy screamed "Mortal Kombat!", the whole front row shouted "I want my money back!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

But now that I think about it, Sloth, you said you were a kid when "B & R" came out; MKA came out the same year. So maybe your young buddies thought it was a good movie, but trust me, it was wildly unpopular & rightfully so.

I actually just watched it 2 months ago and dug it. :)

Huh? Why do you think Kung Lao has anything to do with Power Rangers?!

because the fighting was as amateurish and the acting as awful as power rangers, every fight considered of characters flipping over one another, it was painful to watch

I think the fighting is the one thing that can't be knocked about MK: Conquest. They took every pain to make sure it was as quality and brutal as the first movie was at the very least. I haven't seen any fights in there as I've been watching the series that involved "flipping over and over" each other. Might wanna check that series out again. :)

for some strange reason i've got the series on my xbox hd, and watched it only recently and if you want evidence of constant flipping and jumping over one another just watch the intro almost every shot of a fight involves one of the characters flying through the air and for some reason they always have to scream really annoyingly like jumping causes mass pain, and I hardly think comparing the fights to the movie to see if they were of a high quality is the best juxtaposition :oldrazz:

Perhaps had it not been a sequel to movies that WERE aimed moreso at the hardcore Batfans, it wouldn't receive the level of hate that it does. And it was packaged like a legitimate Batman movie-basing Robin's costume on the Nightwing suit, for example. But there are 2 basic ways to approach a comic book movie; take it seriously or send it up. This one tried to do both & failed twice. And I feel that a story about a kid being scarred for life by the sight of his parents being murdered should never be trated as a comedy. Like I said, I can't even watch the Adam West show because of its campiness. I know some "hardcore Batfans" who actually like that show. I don't.

Babylon 5 also ran on TNT for one year and is one of the most revered shows among many sci-fi fans.

The actual reason that MK: Conquest only lasted one season was not due to the ratings, which were very good - it was due to the fact that it was insanely expensive to produce, which I think comes through nicely in the quality of the attractive sets and CGI effects, which still hold up compared to modern TV CG.

I don't know about that show never watched it, but true same case with firefly. Still I hated MK's low budget tackiness

It ultimately ran on WB for a short time due to its ratings success over there on TNT. I highly recommend downloading the episodes if you like MK stuff. It was a lot of fun, and probably features Kristanna Loken's career high point since she was so adorable and likable on it. ;) Now she's... BloodRayne. :( Poor Kristanna Loken.

And as I said above, the production quality was quite high - this plus the professional fight choroegraphy and the actual skilled martial artists made it pretty neat to watch. Of course, hiring martial artists to be your stars made the acting hit and miss with some of the lead players, but at least Kristanna and the dude playing Raiden were a lot of fun. Eventually the production costs killed the show - it actually cost them upwards of one million to make each individual episode.

Hmmm-it's just that I hated Annihilation so much, I couldn't even think about watching the show. I didn't even play any MK games again for about 9 years.

You know what? I was the same way - MK Annihilation and MK3 both killed the franchise for me. I hated them both deeply. Some people like MK3, but I never tolerated it OR its stupid "Ultimate" spinoff. I hated the crappy new combat system, the cheesy-ass new characters (c'mon - now we have robot ninjas?).

That's why I didn't bother watching the show until I finally downloaded it this year and started reading up on it. It holds up pretty well with me.

I didn't start playing the games again until Deadly Alliance came out. Then, after Deception, I went back and played MK4, which was pretty cool actually. I guess MK3 was a misstep.
