I usually screw up in these kinds of threads (as I mainly like to post "cult films" like: 'Equilibrium', among others), but I will say that I did enjoy 'Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace'. Sure, it was a huge disappointment when it first came out. But, after a while, it grew on me as a movie that I could enjoy watching. Personally, I enjoyed this one far more than I did 'Episode II'. I think that it's because with this one, you can tell Lucas is going for something a little different from the originals. While the second episode (to me) felt a little forced, like they were trying too hard to get the original vibe and fun-factor back. Didn't really work for me.

The closest movie would probably be X-Men (2000). Most of the other movies I love, everyone else loves too or likes a lot. X-Men is still pretty divided among most people.

I love that movie.

Speed Racer, I think the races are awesome, and Emile Hirsch is one of my favorite actors.

Matrix Reloaded. Just about everyone I know hates it, but I remember seeing it in the theater and having a great time.

I have a great passion towards that movie as well. I really respect it for having the balls to take these heroes that we know from the comics and turn them into real-world individuals. Although you can argue that 'Superman' and 'Batman' begun the badwagon for comic-book films, this film anyone can argue modernized and re-introduced the franchise.

Myself included. I did heavily enjoy the fight sequences, and it had quite possibly one of the best fights sequences I've ever seen (Neo vs. Army of Smiths; First Meet). It got really boring at some parts, but the action really helped pick up the pace.

I liked Matrix Reloaded as well. I thought most people liked that??? A lot of people disliked Revolutions but I thought Reloaded was received pretty good?

Really? My fault. I'll also admit I thought Revolutions was decent. A very low 7/10 in my book.

It could have been received bad but I thought most people liked it???

I agree with Batman Forever(I enjoy it more than Batman and Batman Returns)
Matrix Reloaded - fantastic fight scenes, love the Neo vs Smiths and the 'Furious angels' fight.
Speed Racer - only saw this once at the cinema but loved every minute of it, felt like I was seeing something genuinely new onscreen, like the 1st Matrix.
X-Men(my favourite of the trilogy)

Phantom Menace I do prefer over AOTC(which I watched on tv not long ago, and did not enjoy much at all), but I still find it faintly depressing even when I get into it. But there is a lot i like about it, Qui-Gonn is probably the best new character out of the prequels; it has the best light sabre fight of TPT; Watto can be pretty funny; and I do like a lot of the stuff on Tatooine. It's the Gungans that depress me, esp their battle sequence at the end which is useless, I always have to skip past that.

I'd have to add Spider-man 3, despite it's faults, the main one being ret-conning Ben's death(I thought a while fater it would have been better to have Sandman put Aunt May or MJ into a coma to have black suit Spidey have plausible reason to kill). I can live with the Jazz club bit, although it's not that great, but I love the 'Saturday night Parker' sequence, very funny. The sfx are not quite as good, but what could they do? Dystryka had left and they had more sfx than the other two movies to contend with. They still look good enough for me.

Chronicles of Riddick - when I finally got round to seeing it I really enjoyed it, some of teh reviews where unbelievably scathing, you'd think it was a disaster of 'Battlefield Earth proportions going by some. But apart from the eyesores of the Necromancers costumes, and the fact they could be boring, the movie was always pretty good action movie fun when Vin was onscreen, his best role.

Off the top of my head:

Spider-Man 3
The Matrix Reloaded
The Matrix Revolutions
Dune (David Lynch version)
Kingdom of Heaven (DC only)
Alien 3

Seriously.

I can't really think of any I love that most people hate. The closest I can think of is Superman Returns. I wouldn't say it's generally hated, but there are a lot of comic fans who hate it, and I like it a lot.

You could probably count cult favorites like Equilibrium (and Boondock Saints and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, for other examples) because critics hated them.

Particularly Ridley's cut over the theatrical version, for myself. I didn't really like the theatrical release, but I felt that Ridley's cut really did feel complete and whole. Really good movie.

I know, but I've had people cry to me before: "Oh, no! That movie doesn't belong here because it's a cult film." I could easily varify by posting a link to the 'RT' page, but that'd just keep the argument flowing needlessly further (look in the 'Movies you hate that other people generally love.' thread for an example of the long argument I had with a certain somebody about a certain workprint of a particular movie).

With films like 'The Phantom Menace', I like posting them because fanboys on here usually hate 'em and they consider them legit to make an appearance.

I have all of these movies on dvd with the expcetion of Batman Forever, and this is almost half of my dvd collection. I have a total of 176 dvds from my personal collection. The thing with these movies that I listed is that I pretty much love them in a non it's bad but good type of way. I just don't have alot of problems with each of these movies.

Wow, I'm surprised at all the Batman Forever love here. I thought I was the only one. LOL To this day, those that know me are aware that I still love that movie dearly.

I'm also in agreement with those that listed the Matrix Sequels. Although they're not as great as the first, I still enjoyed them. In some ways, I actually enjoyed Revolutions more than Reloaded. I know...BLASPHEMY!

I'm a huge fan of Under Siege: Dark Territory. I think it's an insanely fun action flick, which has nearly a dozen truly memorable kills. Such a blast.

I'm also pretty enamoured with Double Team, Jaws 2 & 3, The Lost World (many people seem to hate this one) and Live Free Or Die Hard.

You know what? I think if one can over look the campy acting of TwoFace, the buttshot, nipples on the suits in Batman Forever, and the music sounding excessive and annoying at times, that it's pretty damn good. I don't actually think Joel was dumb enough to knowingly make Batman Forever on the gay side,I can see that the buttshot was intended for the females and that the nipples were to mimic the Roman's armour for their torsos,it all sounds logical if you ask me.

Watched that the other day. One of my favourites would be the "You're fwcked" beeper, the whole movie had me giggling. It's a shame they had Kurtwood Smith and they didn't make him a villain.
