MS needs to BUY Steven Seagal... That way They can kick the competitions ass... unless Sony and Nintendo buy Chuck Norris and Mr.T... then it would be the console wars all over again...
So true.

PS3 is gonna be 399$ I'm sure of that.

No, it will not. The fact the Sony is using Blue-ray will price it at the leat $500. If you are talking $399 Euros, perhaps, but it will be $500 American at the least.

PS3 production pricing at this point has been laid out to be anywhere from $850 - $956 per unit, meaning there will be a loss on each machine of approx $250 - $350 per console sold. If one million consoles sell in the first day of availability Sony will have wiped their entire fiscal gain for all of 2005 in under 24 hours.

Bye Bye Sony. If they price the PS3 anywhere near $900 Dollars I always said that would be the start of a slow death for them.
thats what people said with PS2.

Wow, that's some selective memory right there.

So the next step in denial will be saying that analysts never said the PSP price would be outragious or that they couldn't possibly make money on it selling it competitvely. PSP to cost 700 dollars? Anyone remember that?

Lo and behold, a year later from the PSP launch, Sony is making money on the PSP hardware. It was a project that was designed to make them money very early.

Sony is a hardware company, you'd be stupid to forget that. I wouldn't be suprised if this group is just adding "Blue Ray player" to the BOM and estimating 400 dollars for that. You don't, sadly, have to be an expert in the feild you make predictions in. The PS3 'blue ray' will cost nowehere near a conventional BR player.

Microsoft could buy your soul if it wanted. The only way a company could not be bought by them is if the company flat out refused. But then Bill Gates might go all Tony Sopranos on their ass.

HE SAID "PS2", NOT "PSP".

And you don't believe the PS2 faced similar estimates. Hence my comment.

Reading comprehension.

Here's an example, and keep in mind this all happened a long time ago so finding the actual articles is next to impossible. But there were many reports saying that the PS2 would retail for at least 500 or more and that the BOM was over 600 dollars.

Prior to the Playstation 2 launch, analysts suggested that the system may sell for as high as $500. Sony surprised press and analysts with a $299 price tag at an annual video games convention.

NOT THAT I REMEMBER...... AND THAT'S NOT "SELECTIVE MEMORY".

Then you're wrong, obviously. =|

The old, "throw a slight out in hopes of deflecting my horribly flawed or incorrect arguements, and add a few smileys for good measure. Then when the oponent makes a good point I'll purposefully act like they meant something else so I can slip away."

Spelling and grammer is what I am sloppy at, I passed English 30 with a great average (90-ish if you're curious). Reading comprehension is one of my strengths.

I doubt the thing will be 900 dollars
That's suicide

I trust Sony anywho, they come through with every product they release

Im looking forward to Revolution also.
I like the idea of downloading old school games

HOW AM I WRONG? YOU EDITED YOUR POST WITH SOMETHING THAT'S NOT EVEN RELEVANT. THE PART IN LARGE, BOLD PRINT, WHICH 'LIQUID' RESPONDED TO, IS THE ISSUE HERE. I DON'T RECALL ANYONE EVER SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT 'SONY' LOSING EVERYTHING IT MADE IN IT'S LAST FISCAL YEAR, WITHIN THE FIRST 24 HRS OF THE 'PS2' LAUNCH.
AS FAR AS HARDWARE ESTIMATES GO, THAT HAPPENS WITH EVERYTHING.......INCLUDING BOTH 'MS' CONSOLES........UNTIL OFFICIAL PRICES ARE ANNOUNCED; I WASN'T DISPUTING THAT AT ALL.

AND, I'M GLAD YOU MANAGED A 90% IN ENGLISH........IT REALLY SHOWS.

You can't be this stupid.

I mean I knew I'd run into your argueing tactics sooner or later, I just didn't expect you to try and use them while quoting me talking about them.

"This product should generate profit on hardware alone. We want to make it affordable for publishers to produce a wide range of entertainment and so [Sony-payable] royalties [on software produced for the PSP] will be lower down in the mix this time round."

http://www.psproms.com/buy_sony_psp.htm

Sony Corp., the world's second- largest consumer electronics maker, said it will avoid a first annual loss in 11 years after hardware sales of Bravia flat-screen TVs and PlayStation Portable video-game players beat forecasts.

The company reversed its full-year estimate to a 70 billion yen ($605 million) profit from the 10 billion yen loss it forecast in October, according to a statement today. Net income rose 18 percent to a record 168.9 billion yen in the three months ended Dec. 31, more than double the 63 billion yen median estimate from six analysts surveyed by Bloomberg.

screw bill gates.

You need competition and a monopoly isn't going to help out the industry.

Even if there was only one console, there would still be competition to make great games between developers.

This I agree with.

The film industry works fine. The movies are in competition with each other, and that's what raises the bar. It's a shame we can't all play the games we want to on a single console. I can't afford to buy all three consoles, and I miss out on a lot of the exclusive games that I'd buy if this weren't the case.

"If you are talking $399 Euros, perhaps, but it will be $500 American at the least."

Isn't 399 less than 500?

YEAH.........SINCE WHEN IS "LESS" = "BIGGER"?

I doubt it will be $900, but Sony themselves has said it will be 'very expensive'. But I really don't see it at $900. Maybe $400, 500 tops.
