zimmer and newton, or just newton. they should really play up the themes tho, especially the main batman theme. it was barely apparent in the first film.

Anyway, I loved Zimmer's and Newton's music for Begins, keep them.
Hmm, I don't consider Molossus being the theme for BB. Wasn't the beginning of Vespertilio (the giant "whoosh" flapping sound) more of a theme? I mean, it appeared in BB way more than Molossus did, and it was badass.Sharkboy said:Hmmm so your happy with molossus being the batman trilogy theme? i mean that theme for the whole three movies. I mean i liked it, but i would prefer something a tad bit different am i the only one who thinks this here?

When I play the score for people, they all go, "Ooooooooh" over the whooshes. They're just so atmospheric.
I also agree with the Star Wars idea. Keep some of the themes, but develop new ones as well for the new characters and situations.

Mm, thank you for being respectful. From what I've gleamed, the old-school of film scoring has this unspoken rule that themes must be "hummable." (Which, I guess would be impossible anyway for people who are tone-deaf, but that's besides the point.) It's like saying that all comic book movies should follow a particular formula or be fun and light-hearted, and we all know how BB kicked that one out of the window.Substance D said:what the hell are you talking about. you can't hum a woosh. ****.

If not them I'd like the Memento composer to make the O.S.T., but hell no--John Ottman (please not!).

Anyhow, this is the 21st century, and we, of the rebellious generation, pride ourselves on thinking out of the box, don't we? I couldn't exactly hum you the Matrix theme (the brass octave...thing), but I could recognize it in a heartbeat. (Once I actually came running into the TV room when I heard it, yelling, "MATRIIIIX!" but I guess that belies my fangirlness.) Same with BB. And frankly, I think it's more important that a theme be associated with a movie than be hummable.
If you would like to discuss this further, go right ahead. But I assure you, I'm not going to bother conversing with someone whose only rebuttal is simply an opinion and "****." It's like talking to a billboard, and I'd rather be talking to a person.

He can do brooding, but when he starts with music for villains it becomes sort of silly sounding rather than disturbing and intimidating. You can say the goofy sound for Joker in B89 is fitting, but I also noticed in Spidey 2 that the music for Doc Ock made it sound a tad campy (especially the building/saving aunt may scenes). The music for Scarecrow's scenes is the right tone I'd like to here when villains are onscreen. I want to be able to react with "oh sh**!, don't mess with that psycho" instead of "here comes the big baddy bad guy villain"...the music is always important; it shas to compliment the tone of those scenes really well.
