well things at work have been really busy lately, so i haven't done much. i'll try to scan what i've got of the new venom pic and post it today.

i'm not sure if i'm going to finish that drawing. while it's clear venom's out for BRAINSSSSSS if you know the character, to non-spidey fans it brings to mind romance novels or something like that. anyway, i tried a new spin on it:

btw, it's not even close to finished. that's why venom is only partly colored in, and certain things are still unperfected.

Actually, I am a Spidey fan and that's the impression I got anyway...

IN case those of you looking at these pics haven't noticed, I've been working on improving Venom. I want to stick with the classic look while still giving it my own spin, much like I did with my version of the Spider-Man outfit. Sort of a halfway cross between Romita Sr. and the movie costume. My Venom is a sort of cross between Bagley and... I'm not sure what else. Anyway, I threw out the rounded jaw I've been using (see pic in previous post) and gave him the much more manacing angular jar. Hope you like.

dude... that looks like a real poster. did you use the spider-man from an already exisiting posing poster or did you design it yeself?

it's from an obscure promo shot for spider-man 2. i thought it looked good, so i used it.

i apologize in advance for the crappy corner spidey. however, the pic is actuially slightly larger than the actual drawing.

i'll make a note of that. it's tough to balance spidey's muscle and his sleek, agile properties in his look. you can make him look all scrawny and bug-like, like some of the USM comics, or like a big muscular dude, like some of the 80's comics. I'll try to get him slightly more beefed up next time, though.
